GEORGE XING 2013 - 14

H i t h ere, My passion for architecture accumulated as I started finding myself by means of exploring the world. It has enlightened my senses and brought me a peace of mind during tough times. Over the years, my appreciation for how architecture improves human experience has inspired my own pursuit for the designing of spaces.

To whom it may concern, This is a letter of recommendation for George Xing who was a member of my PR team during the inaugural Toronto Men’s Fashion Week, TOM* (August 2014). In addition to broadsheet media outreach and confirming media attendance and coverage, my title of Director of Public Relations for TOM* also included the organization of several events and execution of the entire front-‐of-‐house operations during the Spring/Summer 2015 runway shows and all associated events with a team of about 25 people, of which George was one. George assisted in making sure the production of our Mankind Grooming TOM* Preview event (August 2014) ran smoothly and assisted with general matters (i.e. set-‐up, cleanup and any extra assistance should it have been needed to ensure smooth production). In addition to assisting in the pre-‐view event, George was also a member of the FOH team at TOM* and specifically allocated to the runway room where he assisted in bringing up and placing gift bags appropriately, placing name cards in the correct order on seats and assisting guests in finding their seats in an orderly fashion for all 23 runway shows over our 3 day event. I would recommend George for an employment position where collaboration on teams was required, in a creative field, or where he could assist in production of events. For additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me for further reference. Sincerely, Anya Nordström

Toronto’s recent condo boom has brought a shortage of available land and now tiny parking lots are being sought for by developers. The purpose of this project was to use such parking lots located a few steps behind St.Clair on Raglan, to design a mid size condominum which takes maximum advantage of the site given.

The building features private spa pools open to residents and public upon appointment. It is located underground to be isolated from any traces city life above. Instead of windows on walls which give sight of the nearby buildings, the are only skylights that illuminate

The windows of the lowerfloors below the cantilever are behind wooden shutters which act as a screen of privacy between the units and parking. There are cut outs of the screen in the front of the building where more light could be radiated and reflected from the facing condo.

Artist Residence 1A Design Studio

Although the proximity to galleries in the metropolition area is important to artists, the rural areas have a natural beauty that drives the artist’s inspirations. The purpose of this project is to design a seasonal retreat, in the rural areas south of Cambridge in which a painter could spend his or her time working, sleeping, and living alongside nature. To take full advantage of views, the shape of the building is cut diagonally, facing the lake and away from the main facilities.

Answan is located in the south of Egypt, in the middle of the Nile. It is one of the hottest areas in the world with very few rainfall. The river however used to flood the surroundings with water, but since the creation of the dam, this has ceased to exist.

Infill Housing 1B Design Studio Group Project

Like many previous industrial towns that had a boom, Galt is now way past that stage and is now looking to revitalize itself into becoming the creative core for the region. New businesses are now springing up on empty warehouses and the city is in seek of new housing in order to attract a younger generation. The purpose of this project was to introduce a new lifestyle to downtown Galt by designing a communal housing on an urban infill site.

Creating art is naturally a hobby that allows me to output a collection of inspirations found in my journeys in life. These pieces are deeply personal and reflective of my own taste, struggles, or approaches in experimentation.
