It’s all abouT
YOU
You, the student. Not us. We literally built a college from the ground up in just the last 10 years, designed for students by students. We reimagined and revolutionized higher education to put you at its center. Our innovative dedication to student success makes a H-U-G-E difference for your future. Because GGC only succeeds when you do.
We’ve been called pioneers and mavericks. Why? Because every decision we make must pass a test: Will it help YOU succeed?
Innovative. Connected. Engaged.
Our small classrooms ensure personal attention. Professors are available by phone, e-mail and text. You always have access to mentoring and 24/7 tutoring. You can find success at GGC no matter your level of academic preparation. Each student matters, and that’s a radical idea.

R WORLD
College is an adventure. You will learn, discover, question and explore more than you’ve ever imagined ... about your major, your world and even about yourself. We’ll help you master new skills and find your inspiration. You’ll realize that one person can make a difference and that with a little support you can overcome any obstacles between you and your dreams. You may even surprise yourself.
IT’S not a JOB, it’s a
MISSION
All classses are taught by high-quality faculty who are here only because they love to teach. Since our classes are small, they give personal attention other institutions can’t deliver. If you need help with an assignment or a course, they spend extra time with you, perhaps even over lunch. Our professors don’t have office hours. They are available to you in person or by e-mail, phone and text for questions. And they don’t just teach – they mentor. You will be assigned a specific faculty mentor, but all faculty fill this role. Whether you need advice about life, careers, internships or competing for a special academic program, they are there to inspire and encourage you. They’ll even recommend you for conferences, research projects and other activities that will help prepare you for your future. They will welcome you into the college community during your “March Through the Arch” ceremony, and they will personally congratulate you when you graduate. Think of them as your own personal coaching staff.
EXCELLENCE
Dr. Richard Pennington (at left) originally struggled with chemistry, so he understands what it takes to teach it. His own students nominated him for the University System of Georgia’s top teaching award – and he won. In fact, he is one of four GGC professors to win this student-nominated award in only six years.
BTW
You will not be taught by graduate students here. Our faculty have PhDs or other terminal degrees in their fields, and they hail from the nation’s top universities.

SO MANY CHOICES
Check out the list of 100+ clubs and organizations at getinvolved.ggc.edu/organizations.
Grizzlies are
anything but typical
College life isn’t just about academics. Meet world-renowned authors, travel to amusement parks, ride white-water rapids, take in a spin class or go on an excursion with the photography club. Make new friends, start new hobbies, refine your talents or just have fun with others who share your interests. GGC’s students have founded more than 100 clubs and organizations. Whether you are into gaming, music, astronomy, ultimate Frisbee, community service or even pink zombies, there is something here for everyone. But if you don’t find a club that feeds your passion, start your own. At GGC, your opportunities are unlimited. There also are clubs and honor societies specific to different fields of study, so you can get ahead in your chosen career through conferences, networking and special events. Extracurricular activities are a great way for you to learn marketable skills that will help you succeed once you graduate.
Join the Grizzlies’
winning tradition
Well, maybe three years is not long enough to call it a “tradition,” but the GGC Grizzlies have already won multiple regional and national championships in intercollegiate athletics … in only our first two years of post-season eligibility. Even our club teams have defeated big-name opponents. Intramural, club and intercollegiate athletics give students of any skill level opportunities for fitness and the unique learning experiences of team sports. Visit grizzlyathletics.com for more on our winning intercollegiate programs in baseball, softball, men’s and women’s soccer and men’s and women’s tennis. Intramurals include basketball, soccer, tennis, golf, dodgeball, racquetball, flag football, softball and volleyball and even pick-up games in wiffleball and other sports. You will find club sports like swimming, table tennis and more listed at www.ggc.edu/intramurals. If team sports isn’t your thing, you can work out, shoot hoops or enjoy a swim in our campus Wellness and Recreation Center, and cheer for the Grizzlies in our new athletics complex.

You can immerse yourself in other cultures by studying jungle ecology in Central America, serving the underprivileged in Africa, learning about international business in Europe or taking a college course in another nation. You can even earn a global studies certification to supplement your degree. With a GGC education, you will be ready to navigate our ever-changing world as an informed and engaged global citizen.
GRIZZLYstorieS
Seijin Tranberg Political Science Seijin Tranberg enrolled at GGC with no clear direction, but thanks to the inspiration and support of faculty and some soul searching, he is now on a mission to cause international change. Despite a hectic schedule including work and family commitments, he was an influential leader in the Greenlight Activities Board, founded the International Affairs Society and served as president of the Student Government Association two years in a row. As his interest in global leadership came into sharper focus, he incorporated study abroad programs into his education. He spent a summer at the University of the Virgin Islands, a semester in China and a year in South Korea as GGC’s first Fulbright Scholar. He plans to do management consulting before enrolling in graduate school.
ZOE HARRIS
Nursing
Zoe Harris has always wanted to be a nurse. Because of her experiences with her mother’s cancer battle, and injuries both her parents suffered in a car accident, her determination to serve others in the health care field became even stronger. She got a head start in college during high school through dual enrollment, logged 400 volunteer hours at Gwinnett Medical Center, and was accepted as part of GGC’s historic first nursing class. Her career choices include medical/ surgical, oncological or travel nursing.
Victoria Thompson
Education
Victoria Thompson has loved photography for most of her young life. While she is pursuing a degree in education, she takes advantage of opportunities at GGC to expand her hobby and enhance her educational experience. She has a part-time, work-study job in the Office of Public Affairs, for which she takes photos of many campus events and activities. She is a member of the Honors Program and president of the Photography Club. She attended a five-week photography program in France, her second study-abroad trip. She plans to become a teacher while pursuing freelance photography.
CONNOR CLEMENTS
Business
A standout student-athlete on the national champion Grizzly men’s tennis team, Connor’s time at GGC is a homecoming of sorts. Born in Lawrenceville, Ga., Connor later moved with his family to Charleston, S.C., but he now calls Gwinnett County home once again. He is involved away from competition with Special Olympics events and teaching youth tennis clinics. A business major at GGC, Connor is interested in one day working in sports marketing. For now, he is an All-American selection looking to help bring the Grizzlies another championship.
