DIVISION OF HUMANITIES Warren Akin IV Award for Excellence in English Studies

DIVISION OF MATHEMATICS Dr. Margaret Davis Award for Mathematics
Presented annually to the student who has been outstanding in their upper-level mathematics courses during the academic year. Presented by Dr. Maurice Wilson Professor of Mathematics Recipient - Joseph Mendoze
Outstanding Computer Science Student of the Year
Presented to the student who has achieved excellence in the study of computer science and demonstrated exceptional problem-solving skills, haven taken at minimum, the Intro to Computer Science sequence. DIVISION OF NATURAL SCIENCE Excellence in Life Sciences
To recognize an outstanding student who is pursuing a career in an area of biology and demonstrates academic excellence in multiple biological sciences courses, including but limited to Principles of Biology I and II, Foundations of Biology, General Zoology, and Principles of Nutrition. Recipients must also possess a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Presented by Dr. Merry Clark Professor of Biology Recipient - April Cole 3
Excellence in Physical Sciences
To recognize an outstanding student who is pursuing a career in an area of science and demonstrates academic excellence in multiple science courses, including but not limited to Principles of Biology I and II, Principles of Chemistry I and II, and Physics I and II. Recipients must also possess a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Presented by Dr. Justin Polizzi Assistant Professor of Chemistry Recipient - Oluwatomisin “Tomi” Adeogun Excellence in Geology To recognize an outstanding student who is pursuing a career in an area of geology and demonstrates academic excellence in multiple science courses, including but not limited to Physical Geology and Historical Geology. DIVISON OF SOCIAL SCIENCES, BUSINESS, & EDUCATION Business Merit Award
Recognizes a student’s achievement in business by having the highest average in the required Area F business courses. The student must have completed four of the six required classes and be performing well in the fifth and sixth business classes if taking them during the spring semester. SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARDS Dr. Philip Dillard Achievement Award The Dr. Philip Dillard Achievement Award honors students who, in spite of disability, are making achievements in intellectual, social and cultural endeavors or students who enhance disability awareness in the Georgia Highlands College community through such involvement as participation in campus organizations and activities and volunteer services. Excellence in Contributions to Student Government Association
Presented to the SGA member or members that provided significant support and contributions to the Student Government Association during the current academic year. Leadership in Undergraduate Research
The Undergraduate Program Leadership Award recognizes student(s) who proves exemplary leadership in performing both field and/or laboratory tasks researching the water quality at Lake Allatoona. Students who receive this recognition assist to improve the program for future students, exhibit a high standard of laboratory procedures and protocols and seek to help other students new to the program.
