SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES Warren Akin IV Award for Excellence in English Studies For demonstrated excellence in writing ability and personal interest in literature; with a minimum 3.00 GPA and selected by the English faculty. SCHOOL OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING & MATHEMATICS Dr. Margaret Davis Award for Mathematics
Presented annually to the student who has been outstanding in their upper-level mathematics courses during the academic year. Presented by Brandy Rogers Chair, STEM Recipient – Nicholas Constantine
Excellence in Natural Sciences
To recognize an outstanding student who is pursuing a career in an area of biology and demonstrates academic excellence in multiple biological sciences courses, including but limited to Principles of Biology I and II, Foundations of Biology, General Zoology, and Principles of Nutrition. Recipients must also possess a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Presented by Brandy Rogers Chair, STEM Recipient – Lauren Black 3
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS and PROFESSIONAL STUDIES Business Merit Award
Recognizes a student’s achievement in business by having the highest average in the required Area F business courses. The student must have completed four of the six required classes and be performing well in the fifth and sixth business classes if taking them during the spring semester. For students in the BBA-LSCM program that exhibits excellence in leadership, time management, and dedication to their studies and cohort. Presented by Dr. Denie Burks Associate Professor of Business Recipients – Elisabeth Archer Outstanding Computer Science Student of the Year Presented to the student who has achieved excellence in the study of computer science and demonstrated exceptional problem-solving skills, haven taken at minimum, the Intro to Computer Science sequence. Patricia Gaa-Hobson Legacy Award for Perseverance This award is presented annually to a first-year nursing student who expresses an inspiring positive attitude while persevering through personal and professional challenges. Presented by -Paula Stover DNP, RN Nursing Faculty Recipient –Autumn Lamont Outstanding BSN Student Achievement This award is presented annually to a graduating baccalaureate nursing student who demonstrates academic achievement, leadership ability, exhibits qualities of professionalism, and a commitment to the nursing profession.
