Audrey Murphy is in her ﬁrst year as Band Director at East Cobb Middle School in Marietta, Georgia. Prior to this appointment, she was Band Director at Hopewell Middle School in Milton, Georgia from the opening of the school in 2004 until 2023. Under her direction, Hopewell ensembles earned consecutive Superior ratings in performance evaluations and appeared as guest performing ensembles at the University of Georgia Middle School Band Festival, the Music for All Southeastern Regional Concert Band Festival, and the Music for All National Concert Festival. The Hopewell Middle School Symphonic Band also performed as a featured ensemble for the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference in 2010 and 2019.

A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Ms. Murphy is a graduate of East Carolina University. She has performed as a clarinetist with the Long Bay Symphony Orchestra, the Charlotte Civic Orchestra, the Capital City Opera Company of Atlanta, Tara Winds, the Georgia Wind Symphony, and Atlanta-based woodwind quintet Highland5.

Ms. Murphy has served as a guest clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States. She has received the National Band Association’s Citation of Excellence on four occasions for her contributions to the ﬁeld of concert band. She is also a recipient of the North Fulton Jaycees Outstanding Young Arts Professional Award and was named 2010-2011 Hopewell Middle School Teacher of the Year. In 2022, she was featured in the “50 Directors Who Make a Difference” issue of School Band and Orchestra Magazine. Ms. Murphy is currently chair of the Alfred Music Young Band Composition Contest for the National Band Association.

PERCUSSION ORGANIZER - TODD WILSON l ORGANIZER - WENDY WILSON

Matt Koperniak is the Performing Arts Coordinator for Fulton County Schools where he supervises the district’s comprehensive music education and music therapy programs. Under his leadership, Fulton County Schools continues to be named a “Best Community for Music Education” from the NAMM Foundation, recognizing commitment and access to standards-based and sequential music education for the district’s 90,000 students. He also leads the Senior Music Education Seminar at Georgia State University.

Dr. Koperniak served as Director of Bands at Riverwatch Middle School from 2008-2018. During that time, band enrollment grew from 135 students to over 680 students. Under his direction, the Riverwatch Band Program received the National Program of Excellence Blue Ribbon Award from the National Band Association and the Sudler Silver Cup from the John Philip Sousa Foundation. Invited performances include The Midwest Clinic: International Band & Orchestra Conference, Music for All National Concert Festival, National Band Association & College Band Directors National Association Southern Division conferences, GMEA In-Service Conference, Southeastern United States SEUS Clinic at Troy University, University of Alabama, University of Georgia, and "Strike Up the Band" on WABE 90.1 (NPR). Additional teaching experience includes Georgia Southern University, Johns Creek High School, Norcross High School, and Jefferson High School, as well as directing the Classic City Community Band in Athens, GA.

Dr. Koperniak served as President of the Georgia Music Educators Association from 2021-2023, as well as GMEA Advocacy Task Force Chair (2020), State Band Chair (2017-2019), and State Organizer for Middle School All-State Band (2014-2016). At the GMEA District level, service includes Ninth District Treasurer (2010-2015) and Solo & Ensemble organizer (2010-2018). He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Band Association (2018-2020) and is a frequent adjudicator and clinician throughout the United States, including engagements at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, University of Nebraska Omaha, and the University of Alabama. He has been published in the Journal of Music Teacher Education and the Music Educators Journal, and he currently serves as Associate Editor for the music education journal TOPICS (Themes, Opinions, Praxes, Innovations, Curriculum, Strategies). Conference presentations include the NAfME National Biennial Music Research and Teacher Education Conference, NAfME Music Program Leaders, The Midwest Clinic, and MayDay Group Colloquia. He has served as a grant panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts, Georgia Department of Education, and Fulton County Department of Arts & Culture.

Dr. Koperniak earned degrees in music education from Boston University and the University of Georgia. He is a 2017 recipient of the UGA Alumni Association "40 under 40" award. Additional recognitions include Riverwatch Middle School Teacher of the Year (2012), Phi Mu Alpha Province Governor of the Year (2013), and GMEA Music Educator of the Year (2020).

CONDUCTOR - JAMES O. SEDA

ORGANIZER - ARTIS STATON PERCUSSION ORGANIZER - AARON SAVAGE l

James O. Seda is currently the Director of Bands at Southwest Dekalb High School. He is a product of the Atlanta Public School System, having graduated from Southside Comprehensive High School. Mr. Seda received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Florida A&M University. While there, he studied conducting with Dr. William P. Foster and Dr. Julian E. White. He also studied trumpet in the studio of Dr. Marty Robinson. Mr. Seda has done further studies in the Master of Music Education Program at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Illinois.

Mr. Seda has been the Director of Bands at Southwest Dekalb High School since 2001. Prior to that he served as Assistant Director of Bands at Chapel Hill Middle School for two years, the primary feeder school to Southwest Dekalb High School, also assisting with the band program at Southwest Dekalb simultaneously. Mr. Seda is a member of the American Bandmasters Association, Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, Minority Band Directors National Association, Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the Screen Actors Guild, International Trumpet Guild, MACE and NAACP. Mr. Seda has been recognized and honored by Who's Who Among America's Teachers multiple times. Mr. Seda is a four-time recipient of the Citation of Excellence award from the National Band Association.

While attending Florida A&M University, Mr. Seda was a very active performer, soon earning the principal trumpet chair in the FAMU Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band, and the lead trumpet chair in the FAMU Jazz Ensemble. As a member of the world famous 'Marching 100' Mr. Seda served as trumpet section leader for two years, as well as being elected business manager, vice-president, and president in consecutive years.

Mr. Seda has performed in Paris, France, The Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland and the North Seas Jazz Festival in The Haag, Holland. He has also performed in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Jamaica. Television and radio features are also to his credit as CNN displayed his talents in a television documentary on the life of jazz musician Jesse Stone. He has done studio sessions for television and radio commercials, as well as short ﬁlms and movies. Mr. Seda worked on the 20th Century Fox motion picture DRUMLINE as a music arranger, band organizer, creative consultant, instrumentalist and actor extra.

Mr. Seda maintains an active performance schedule, appearing in venues throughout the United States. Music has impacted and molded Mr. Seda's life, and he feels that he should share and expose his knowledge and experiences with his students so they may have the same opportunities. His educational philosophy is to foster a ﬁrm understanding and appreciation of music by exposing his students to its many styles, therefore making them competitive and adaptive in any musical situation.

Scott Stewart is the Music Director and Conductor of the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony, a position he has held since 1999. He has served on the instrumental music faculties of McCallum High School (Austin, TX), Emory University, the Westminster Schools, and Oak Grove United Methodist Church (Atlanta, GA). He regularly conducts wind band/ensembles, symphony orchestra, and chamber music groups. He has taught courses in conducting, wind band history, and ﬁlm music.

A native of Cicero, Indiana, Stewart holds a Bachelor of Music Education and Doctor of Music in Conducting from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, and a Master of Music from the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin. Stewart's instructors include Ray Cramer, Stephen Pratt, David Woodley, Eugene Rousseau, Robert Duke, and Jerry Junkin.

Stewart has served as Conductor of the Emory University Symphony Orchestra, Principal Conductor of the Star of Indiana Brass Theatre, Assistant Conductor of the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra, Guest Lecturer and Conductor at the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts, Director of Instrumental Music for the West Virginia Governor's Honor Program.

Stewart has commissioned, premiered, and recorded numerous wind band/ensemble compositions, including music by Jennifer Higdon, Bruce Broughton, Michael Giacchino, John Mackey, Stephen Paulus, Steven Bryant, Jake Runestad, Jonathan Newman, Libby Larsen, Carolyn Bremer, Kevin Kaska, Todd Stalter, Roger Cichy, Kevin Walcyzk, William Pitts, and others. In November 2012, NAXOS released the"In the World of Spirits") CD for wind band/ensemble on the “Wind Band Classics” label.

Stewart has conducted the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony at Carnegie Hall (New York, NY), Alice Tully Hall (New York, NY), Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles, CA), Severance Hall (Cleveland, OH), the Strathmore (North Bethesda, MD), New World Center (Miami Beach, FL), the Midwest Clinic (Chicago, IL), the MENC national conference (Milwaukee, WI) and the GMEA In-State Conferences (Savannah and Athens, GA). AYWS has been featured on Public Radio International’s “From the Top,” and is featured regularly on WABE 90.1’s “Atlanta Music Scene.”

Stewart is the founder and on-air host of “Strike Up the Band,” a program devoted to wind band music on Atlanta’s National Public Radio afﬁliate, WABE 90.1 FM. He is also heard frequently on air as Music Contributor on “City Lights with Lois Reitzes” with WABE program director Lois Reitzes.

Stewart is a contributing research associate for volumes 2-9 of Teaching Music Through Performance in Band, as well as Teaching Music Through Performance of Marches, all published by GIA. He has presented scholarly papers at the Hawaii International Conference on the Arts and Humanities and the Internationale Gesellschaft zur Erforschung und Förderung der Blasmusik in Oberwelz, Austria. He has also published in The Instumentalist and Music Educators Journal.

Stewart co-founded and facilitated Atlanta-area outreach programs, including the Atlanta Instrumental Conducting Institute, Saxophone Day, Bassoon Day and the Summer Bassoon Extravaganza, International Euphonium Institute, and the Atlanta Trumpet Festival.

Dr. Jaclyn Hartenberger (Fulbright scholar, 2023 – 2024) is a highly sought performer, with artistry that has attracted signiﬁcant invitations throughout the world. Under her leadership, ensembles consistently perform at a high level, and her programs are enthusiastically received. Performances have been described as “superb,” “praiseworthy,” “terriﬁc,” “impressive,” and displaying “artistry.”

Jaclyn Hartenberger grew up in St. Louis, Missouri where her mother was her ﬁrst music teacher. She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas, where she performed and recorded with the prestigious UNT Wind Symphony. Jaclyn then taught public school where she developed award-winning band programs as the Associate Director of Bands at both Forestwood Middle School in Flower Mound, TX and Centennial High School in Frisco, TX. She then went on to earn her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from The University of Texas at Austin, where she studied with Jerry F. Junkin. While serving as a graduate conducting associate, she conducted various ensembles, wrote transcriptions, and arranged and charted for the Longhorn Band.

Jaclyn Hartenberger is in her eleventh year as the Associate Director of Bands and Associate Professor of Music at the University of Georgia (UGA) where she conducts the Wind Symphony (WS) and teaches conducting. The WS’s accomplishments and contributions include being: a ﬁnalist for the American Prize in Ensemble Performance, the annual featured ensemble at Georgia’s Middle School Band Festival, a featured ensemble at the Georgia Music Educators Association’s state music conference, and an annual invited performer to UGA’s Performing Arts Center’s Saturday Morning Kids Club series. While at UGA, Jaclyn has premiered and recorded major works for the wind repertoire including Kevin Day’s Concerto for Wind Ensemble (which received a Pulitzer Prize nomination) and Adam Gorb’s Concerto for Violin, Viola and Wind Ensemble.

Jaclyn further develops her artistry with the JH Collective, a professional modular ensemble and current ﬁnalist for the American Prize. This ensemble has performed Appalachian Spring by Aaron Copland with the Martha Graham Ballet Company and collaborated with soloists David Fung (piano), Liza Stepanova (piano), and Levon Ambartsumian (violin). Jaclyn is also the Artistic Director and conductor for the North Georgia Winds, a community-based wind ensemble in Georgia, USA. She has appeared with numerous ensembles including: the West Point Band (New York, USA), Concordia Santa Fe Wind Ensemble (New Mexico, USA), Festival International de Inverno da USFM (Santa Maria, Brazil), and the Salta Symphony Orchestra in (Salta, Argentina).

David Kehler serves as Director of Bands and Professor of Music at the Kennesaw State University Bobbie Bailey School of Music where he is Music Director and Conductor of the KSU Wind Ensemble. In addition, he supervises and guides all aspects of the KSU Band program, which now enrolls of over 500 band students. Dr. Kehler also teaches courses in instrumental conducting, symphonic repertoire, and twentieth century music. Professor Kehler is the recipient of several awards including the Kennesaw State University College of Arts 2020 Teaching Award, and the 2021 Research and Creative Activity Award. An advocate of new music, Dr. Kehler has commissioned more than two-dozen composers, including several Pulitzer Prize winners to write new compositions for wind ensemble.

Along with his university responsibilities, David Kehler serves as Music Director and Conductor of the Atlanta Wind Symphony, a position he has held since 2017. The AWS, now considered one of the top adult bands in the United States today has recently been a featured ensemble at the 2020 Georgia Music Educators Conference, and the 2021 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago.

Previously, David Kehler served as Associate Conductor of America's Premiere Windband; The Dallas Winds and served as Founder and Conductor of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra Wind Symphony. Previous academic appointments were at Southern Methodist University, the University of Rhode Island, and Bay City Western High School, in Bay City, Michigan. Growing up in Michigan, Dr. Kehler received his Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music in Conducting degrees from Michigan State University, followed by his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in instrumental conducting from the University of Texas at Austin.

ORGANIZER - BO NA

Ann Victor is an experienced music educator with 36 years of teaching, rehearsing and conducting leadership. She has taught students of all ages in Texas: middle school, high school, and university students. While teaching middle school, her orchestras consistently ranked at the top in the Texas Honor Orchestra Competition. She has received numerous awards and “Sweepstakes Honors” from the University Interscholastic League competitions. Her orchestras have been National Winners in the "Mark of Excellence" awards from the Foundation for Music Education.

Ms. Victor is known for her musical leadership. Her orchestras have performed at The Midwest Clinic International Band, and Orchestra Conference in Chicago six times and at The American String Teachers Association Convention, ASTA, as a featured Orchestra. Her middle school orchestra performances were featured on the website for the "Live from Lincoln Center-Outstanding Student Performances."

Ms. Victor has received many personal awards and honors for her work as an educator, including Campus Teacher of the Year for Sartartia Middle School and District Finalist (Fort Bend ISD) for Secondary Teacher of the Year. She was also a ﬁnalist for the HEB Excellence in Education award and received the Houston Symphony and Spec's Award for Excellence in Music Education.

In addition to her teaching, she has presented clinics at the Texas Music Educator Association, “Fun in Thumb Position on The Cello” with Dr. Peter Kempter and Courtenay Vandiver, and a clinic with James Drew and Carolyn Vandiver for the Three M's for Managing a Successful Program.

She is a member of several music associations, including the American String Teachers Association, Mu Omicron, Texas Orchestra Directors Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Texas Classroom Teachers Association, The National Musicians' Union, and Music Teachers National Association. She has served on numerous occasions as orchestra adjudicator and clinician throughout the state of Texas.

She graduated from The Interlochen Arts Academy. She received her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in music performance from Kent State University. She also completed coursework towards a Doctor of Musical Arts in cello performance and teacher certiﬁcation at The University of Texas, Austin. Ms. Victor was co-conductor with Carolyn Vandiver at the Houston Youth Symphony String Orchestra for the past 24 years.

She receives immense joy from both her orchestra students and her private studio students, several who now play professionally.

LaSaundra Booth is a National Board Certiﬁed teaching artist, inventor, author, conductor, and arts administrator. Booth was named one of 50 Directors who Make A Difference by School Band and Orchestra Magazine. She has 20 years experience teaching and conducting orchestra at the elementary, middle, high, and collegiate level. All of her performing ensembles received Superior ratings in adjudicated music festivals and competitions.

Booth has a certificate in nonprofit management from Duke University, a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership, a Master’s Degree in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a Bachelor of Music from North Carolina Central University. She studied with Dr. Timothy Holley, Alex Ezerman, Jesse L. Suggs, Jr., Kellie Keiser, and Jennifer Wernicke. Booth serves as lecturer of music education at the University of North CarolinaChapel Hill and adjunct assistant professor at Shenandoah University. Booth previously served as Director of Strings at Winston-Salem State University. Booth is also project grant manager for the National Association of Music Education’s Connected Arts (CAN) Network, where she oversees the professional development for a national cadre of teacher leaders. This year, she serves as chair-elect for the National Association for Music Education’s Council for Orchestral Education. Booth is an alumni of Sphinx LEAD (Leaders in Excellence, Arts & Diversity), who is known for anchoring discussions on how to make public school orchestra programs more equitable, diverse, and inclusive to all students. Her most recent speaking engagements include Manhattan School of Music’s Precollege Division, Sphinx Connect, the National Association for Music Education’s Town Hall, and the American String Teachers Association (ASTA). Booth’s dissertation Factors that Influence the Status of K-12 String Orchestra Programs in North Carolina Public Schools was the first of its kind to focus specifically on string orchestra programs in North Carolina.

Booth has a successful history of establishing diverse, equitable, and inclusive programs at the elementary, middle, high school, and collegiate levels. She founded the Wake Forest Community Youth Orchestra (2013), a non-proﬁt organization that provides expert orchestral instruction and free instruments to youth where orchestra opportunities are limited or do not exist. In her tenure, Booth has grown the organization from 3 students to over 500 Pre-K through 12th grade students across Wake, Franklin, and Vance counties. In April 2021, Booth received the Vance County Champion of the Arts Award for bringing the ﬁrst after-school string program to the district.

Booth is an accomplished entrepreneur. She is author of Meals for Musicians: Delicious Meals to Fit Your Busy Lifestyle. Booth was awarded a patent for a device to enhance string instruments (USPTO# 20140260902). She was also featured in the 2008 edition of North Carolina Symphony’s Opus magazine and performed on an episode of One Tree Hill, the WB network's hit television series. In December 2022, Dr. Booth co-authored, Finding Light in Dif icult Times: Responding, Creating, & Protecting Intellectual Property, which is a free resource for Orchestra Teachers commissioned by the Library of Congress and the National Association for Music Education.

Booth is in demand as a cellist and guest conductor. She has performed with Integrity Strings, Cellist Ti Awo, Colour of Music Symphony Orchestra, Greensboro Philharmonia, Raleigh Symphony, Duke Symphony, and Durham Symphony. Her most recent appointments include guest conductor of the Intercollegiate Music Association’s String Orchestra (IMA), conductor of NAfME’s All-National Honors Symphony Orchestra, guest clinician for the California Orchestra Director Association and Washoe County School District High School Honors Orchestra in Reno, NV. Booth served as the inaugural conductor for the 2022 Chamber Orchestra conductor for the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles(YOLA) National Festival. Booth accepted the invitation to return as conductor for the YOLA festival in July 2023. Booth was honored to have Maestro Gustavo Dudamel perform as a section violinist to close out the concert as she conducted Arturo Marquez’s Danzon No. 2. Booth served as the Orchestra Headliner for the 2023 Northwest Regional Music Educators Association in Bellevue, Washington. Dr. Booth is excited to serve as clinician for the Georgia Music Educators Association.

ORGANIZER - PATRICIA CLEATON

A graduate of Baylor University with a degree in Music Education, Julie Blackstock is currently in her 26th year of teaching and her tenth year as the Director of Orchestras at Liberty High School in Frisco, Texas. Prior to teaching at Liberty, Ms. Blackstock taught in the Carrollton/Farmers Branch Independent School District for sixteen years, twelve of those at Creekview High School. Under her direction, the orchestras in both districts consistently received top awards and honors, including regularly being ﬁnalists of the TMEA Honor String and Full Orchestra competitions. The Symphony Orchestra at Liberty High School was also invited to perform at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago in December 2015.

Ms. Blackstock has also been a frequent adjudicator and clinician for UIL, Solo/Ensemble contests, festivals, and All-Region/All-District Orchestras throughout Texas, Arkansas, Washington, Oregon, and Utah. She also served as an instructor/conductor at the Baylor University Summer Music Camp for 20 years.

Currently Vice-President of TMEA Region 24, Ms. Blackstock is proud of her memberships in the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Orchestra Directors Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Mu Omicron, and is honored to be a member of Who’s Who Among American High School Teachers. For six years she served as Orchestra Lead for Frisco ISD, developing curriculum and staff development, facilitating Professional Learning Committees, and mentoring teachers.

Ms. Blackstock is passionate about sharing intimate musical moments and modeling vulnerability through music. One of her core beliefs and philosophies is to create a safe environment in the musical classroom where all students ﬁnd a place to belong, connect, and express themselves. Cultivating relationships this way is one of her greatest strengths. In a fast-paced society, she believes making music together helps students be aware of and appreciate the world around them.

In her free time, Ms. Blackstock enjoys spending her time reading, tending her ﬂowers and vegetables, watching and feeding birds, and traveling on road trips whenever she can, alongside her cat Little Susie.

ORGANIZER - LORI BUONAMICI

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Tamara Dworetz is a dynamic and electric musical force on the podium. She has conducted the Paris Mozart Orchestra, Boston Pops, Dallas Opera Orchestra, Cabrillo Festival Orchestra, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Amarillo Symphony, and Mankato Symphony. She has served as an assistant conductor for the Orchestre de Paris (Klaus Mäkelä), Gürzenich Orchestre Cologne (François-Xavier Roth), BBC Concert Orchestra (Bramwell Tovey) and Atlanta Symphony (Nathalie Stutzmann) and won 2nd prize in the Boston Pops' Leonard Bernstein Conducting Competition. Her 2023-24 season will include a debut with the Arkansas Symphony featuring pianist Conrad Tao. She is thrilled to be the newly-appointed Music Director of the Georgia Philharmonic.

Tamara was recently selected as 1 of 14 candidates from a worldwide pool in the 2022 La Maestra Conducting Competition and Academy for Women Conductors in Paris, France. She was the only US-born conductor selected for the competition and earned a spot as one of 6 semi-ﬁnalists. 'Maestra', a documentary directed by Maggie Contreras, features 5 conductors from the competition, including Tamara, and was premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and highlighted on CBS National News as well as international ﬁlm festivals.

A devoted music educator, Tamara’s musical beginnings took place in the Atlanta Public School System, and she is passionate about leading K-12 and pre-professional musicians in enriching musical experiences. Tamara is the newly-appointed Georgia State University Director of Orchestral Studies & Charles Thomas Wurm Distinguished Professor in Instrumental Music. She has served guest conducting residencies at Boston University School of Music, SUNY Fredonia School of Music, and the Longy Conservatory Orchestra at Bard College and was Music Director of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (NY) Orchestra and Concert Choir and guest conducted the TMEA (Texas) All-State Philharmonic Orchestra and All-Northwest Honor Orchestra. From 2013-16, Tamara was the Director of Orchestras at Lakeside High School where she increased enrollment by 50%.

9-10 FULL ORCHESTRA CONDUCTOR - DOUGLAS DROSTE

Conductor Douglas Droste is recognized as possessing "obvious joy" for making music and a "sure sense of timing" when on the podium. Those under his baton routinely acknowledge his in-depth interpretations, keen sense of communication, and personable ability to empower musicians.

Droste’s guest conducting appearances include the INSO-Lviv Symphony Orchestra (Ukraine), and the orchestras of Kansas City, Indianapolis, Columbus, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Midland-Odessa, Fox Valley (IL), Chappaqua (NY), and the Amarillo Virtuosi. Equally at home in the pit, he has conducted over 30 productions of opera, ballet, and musical theatre. Droste has also led eclectic shows with artists such as Black Violin, Ben Folds, The Flaming Lips, Pink Martini, Michael Cavanaugh, Time for Three, Christian Howes, and Disney’s All-American College Orchestra Alumni, among others. He previously served as Artistic Director of the Muncie Symphony Orchestra, where he was praised for dynamic performances, innovative programming, and his rapport with musicians and community.

A dedicated teacher, Droste is Director of Orchestral Studies at Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music, where he conducts the Baldwin Wallace Symphony Orchestra and teaches conducting. He regularly programs traditional repertoire, works by underrepresented composers, as well as new music by the composers of today. He also seeks unique collaborations and projects, such as Ron McCurdy’s Langston Hughes Project, sensory friendly concerts for children with special needs, and a recording with Tony Award winner Sutton Foster, “Take Me to the World,” on the Ghostlight label.

A talented violinist, Droste has performed with the orchestras of Canton, Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Nashville, and the Lancaster Festival, among others. He is also skilled on viola, trumpet, and as a tenor. Droste holds degrees from The Ohio State University and Texas Tech University.

11-12 FULL ORCHESTRA CONDUCTOR - JEFFREY GROGAN

Jeffrey Grogan is an internationally-acclaimed conductor and teacher, currently serving as Director of Orchestral Activities at the Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University and Artistic Director of the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras. Recent work includes conducting at the Musikverein in Vienna, Sydney Opera House, Harpa Concert Hall in Iceland, and in Bangkok and Singapore. Grogan serves as a Master Educator for the Yamaha Corporation of America and is on the Advisory Committees of the Midwest Clinic and Music for All. For several summers, he was invited by the LA Philharmonic to conduct alongside Gustavo Dudamel at Disney Hall, a part of the Youth Orchestras of Los Angeles National Festival.

Following his passion for performing and helping to create new music for orchestras, he has collaborated with many composers such as Omar Thomas, Amanda Harberg, Lowell Liebermann, Michael Colgrass, Eric Whitacre, Steven Stucky, and Scott McAllister – as well as soloists Richard Stolzman, Stefan Hoskuldsson, Julian Schwarz, and the Canadian Brass. Grogan worked in studio and on several projects with violinist and composer Mark O’Connor, recording O’Connor’s March of the Gypsy Fiddler with the Ahn Trio and New Jersey Youth Symphony on OMAC Records; a recording which is played on classical music radio throughout the country. Grogan previously served eleven seasons as Education and Community Engagement Conductor of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and as Conductor and Artistic Director of the NJSO Youth Orchestras, the InterSchool Orchestras of New York and the New Jersey Youth Symphony. He was the founding Artistic Director of two El Sistema inspired programs in New Jersey: CHAMPS and the Paterson Music Project. Grogan taught for over a decade at the University of Michigan, Ithaca College, and Baylor University and is the former Associate Director of Bands and Marching Band Director at the University of Michigan and Baylor University.
