PROJECT STATEMENT The RIBBON Foundation for Drone Research and Technology is the proposal for the new private research center in Boston. The research center focuses on the technological themes of Drone Aviation Tech & Augmented & Virtual Reality Development. The form of the design was heavily inspired by the effect that air currents would have on a freeflowing object such as a Ribbon. The programmatic language of the research center consists of a pubic interface, offices, server rooms, display spaces and maintenance rooms which all revolve around central interior and exterior areas that act as: Testing Spaces for AR/VR & Drones, Tech Demonstration & Presentation Amphitheaters.

In need of a stronger tie to the rest of the Ryerson community, The Hive integrates a modular design that allows for the inclusion and break up of various amenities and residences. By implementing an interactive institution supported by new technological and environmentally sustainable features, it encompasses a learning and social space that projects the purpose of the Department of Architectural Science.

PROJECT STATEMENT The design proposed has the concept of the forest as its driving force, since it aims to challenge the boundaries and gentrifications that have been created in its surroundings. This creates a unique environment of serenity, community and tranquility. The design uses the disbelief of expectation, chaotic and orderly to create spaces, views and experiences that will draw the eye in, gather residents from all neighborhoods and ultimately create a low-light, ethereal hearth of its own. The library uses mass timber construction as its structural material and yellow tinted glass in its glazing systems. The project also proposes using Tesla Solar Panels as the primary material for the exterior skin.
