Solar Calculator: Leveraging Remote Sensing to Compute Solar Energy Potential
Vision: To provide space-based inputs for supporting the goal of achieving 300 GW of solar capacity by 2030 as part of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7: Affordable and Clean Energy.
Objectives
y To provide global horizontal irradiation (GHI) derived from INSAT 3D / 3DR satellites enabling precise estimation of solar energy potential at a given site in the Indian subcontinent. y To provide an interactive decision-support system integrating multiple parameters such as land cover, road network, transmission lines, slope and GHI for solar site suitability analysis. y To develop models for forecasting incident solar irradiance for supporting electricity generating companies in plant operation schedules.
