Executive Reports a. President (Cathie Hickson) June 2019: • European Geothermal Congress (EGEC 2019) in The Netherlands demonstrated how Europeans are moving much faster for geothermal and direct heat projects. July 2019: • The Geothermal Congress for Latin America and the Caribbean (GEOLAC) in Santiago- the industry is developing in South America which resulted in an MOU being signed between Geothermal Canada and Argentina Geological Survey to help move geothermal forward in South America


September 2019: • Chena Hot Springs in Alaska • GRC Annual Meeting in Palm Springs November 2019: • DEEPEGS in France- opportunity to meet with researchers and developers to move geothermal forward using deep EGS for direct heat use and power • Geothermal Students’ Day January 2020: • 10th Session of IRENA in Abu Dhabi. Many countries (including Canada) that had geothermal in their platform. Cathie posted “A Geothermal Perspective from the Tenth Session of the Assembly” • Katie CSPG Geothermal Division Talk: “Geothermal Energy in Canada – Kickstarting an Industry” • Waterloo Geothermal Workshop February: • Beginning of crash of crude oil • Cathie CSPG Geothermal Division Talk: “Alberta No. 1 Geothermal Project” March 2020: • Clean Energy BC Lunch + Learn May and June 2020: • Several webinars hosted by Terrapin o Geothermal Development (APEGA Presentation). March 26, 2020 o Waste Heat to Value: Generating Power (Clean Energy Webinar Week). April 28, 2020 o Growing Geothermal: The Value of Heat (Clean Energy Webinar Week). April 30, 2020 o How Geothermal and Oil & Gas Complement Each Other (Webinar Panel). June 18, 2020 • Geothermal Canada approached by CAODC (Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors), spearheaded by Kevin Krausert of Beaver Drilling • Cathie stepping down as President and running for Vice President because she is now CEO of Alberta No. 1 and also to make room for changes on the board b. Vice President (Steve Grasby): • Government and institutions exploring opportunities to get field work done this summer, mostly desktop studies now due to COVID-19

Geological Survey of Canada team modelling deep closed-loop system Ongoing discussions with Minister of NRCan and staff- discussions on renewing energy systems in Canada, which include geothermal

Treasurer (Jeff Witter): Financial Summary “Geothermal Canada 2019-2020 Financial Report” Fiscal year ends Jan. 31 Summary from last fiscal year- revenues greatly exceeded expenses, most revenues come from membership dues, expenses are from emails, webpage, and mostly for payment of IGA membership (around $1000/yr) As of Jan 31, 2020, GC had ~$4000 in bank account, since Jan. 31, GC now has ~$7,500 in account (after IGA membership fee has been paid)

d. Secretary (Katie Huang): • 64 members for this year, lots of new corporate members • About 1400 page views/month, Search Engine Optimization has been slowly increasing since we first launched the website • 576 followers on Twitter • 1,647 followers on LinkedIn VI.

Directors Reports a. Student Engagement Director (Mafalda Miranda): • Planning to have a 2nd Annual Students’ Day in Manitoba but early in planning phase b. Director from Central Canada (Manitoba & Ontario) (Maurice Dusseault): • Substantial jump in interest in low-intermediate grade heat • Waterloo trying to develop an alliance with FORGE project in Utah, which is datarich and all posted online • Resurgence in interest in EGS in Europe • Lots of innovative work on heat storage, such as air compression (short term 24hr storage) c. • • •

Director from Eastern Canada (Quebec & Maritimes) (Jasmin Raymond): Lots of activity in Eastern Canada Geothermal Students’ Day hosted at INRS Research conducted by INRS (mostly) also Montreal Polytechnique and Concordia on geothermal resources and heat pumps

INRS- Open access lab “Laboratoire ouvert de geothermie” (LOG) for thermal and hydraulic property measurements on core has been used by many New Brunswick- Interest in geothermal potential of radiogenic intrusions Nova Scotia- Desktop Study awarded to INRS for geothermal potential Gaining interest in food supply chain for local greenhouses in Eastern Canada

d. Director from Western Canada (Alberta & Saskatchewan) (Update Given by Kirsten Marcia): • Grant is absent • DEEP project is on track • Alberta No. 1 is planning to spud in Sept/Oct. 2020 e. Director from Northern Canada (Yukon, NWT & Nunavut) (Tiffani Fraser): Yukon: • Busy fundraising for federal grants in Yukon • Geophysics over Denali Fault • Report to suggest drill targets in Yukon, hoping to get funding to drill gradient wells in the next few years • Successful outreach during Chena Hot Springs trip- community almost 100% heated by geothermal, lots of tourism, invited representatives from all First Nations groups of southern Yukon (around 4/8 attended) • Several publications being released soon Nunavut: • Nunavut awarded a geothermal feasibility study which was awarded to RESPEC. Interest in geothermal assessment from Baker Lake, Resolute Bay, Rankine NWT: • Investigation of utilizing geothermal from Con Mine is underway f. Director from British Columbia (BC) (Update Given By John Ebell): • Bastien absent, update from John Ebell about Clarke Lake project, BC • Completed data compilation and analysis- drilling design completed, permitting in place, community outreach complete • 100% First Nations project, challenges putting funding together (need for early equity funding) • Clarke Lake Project expecting to drill fall/winter 2020 g. Member Input: What can the board work on this year? • Importance on heat use- public and policy-makers need better understanding on heat demand and potential use from geothermal (Maurice) • US DOE has little knowledge on the geothermal industry in Canada- could be more collaboration (Matt Minnick)

Indigenous outreach is an important component- many communities right by geothermal resources don’t know about the opportunities around them (John Ebell)
