MOVIE My week with Marilyn / Dir. Simon Curtis, 2011 Perfect movie for a rainy monday night. It’s the story of a young third assistant on a Marilyn Monroe’s movie. Typical nicely shot romanced documentarish english piece. In this one the willingto-be-discreet directing goes a bit flat, we feel the long Tvmovies experience of S.Curtis instead of a feature movie’s one. It’s always a bit of a shame when those icon movies lack of personality. Casting is a bit clumsy but good effort and acting for the odd Eddie Redmayne. On her side Michelle Williams doesn’t have 10% of Monroe’s devouring light (according to me), even though she was on the “play an icon win an oscar” well known principle. The editing is nervous and stiff, the set pretty & slick, the light perfect. In the end we buy it with pleasure, like something good reminding us something great.

Flying Lotus is on a good path for “Until the quiet comes” with this music video and the great short movie made for the album release. Now let’s say that “Putty Boy Strut” is more than enjoyable !! The graphic style plus the track plus the animation go perfectly together to form this robotic treat. The last collaboration between the well known Cyriak and designer/jewelry maker Sarah Brown was for Adam Buxton’s “Counting song”. Bunch of fun I tell you. “Putty Boy Strut” will even give you an happy ending, and it’s kind of refreshing for a Cyriak’s piece not to have this “I should throw myself through a window” feeling all along. Not much more to say really, watch and enjoy.

Finally new blood. Finally someone takes risks and create something fun and non traditional for a big name. “Watermarked” for Kenzo is perfection. Insolent, funny and awkward. But we’re not in presence of something weird because personal : everyone gets the stiff swedish plane commercial inspiration (the only thing weird would be some of the clothes maybe). Lately Kenzo is willing to get rid of it’s dusty and washed-up image. The ad has been made by a free soul magazine called “DIS” - their policy is to have no limit for creativity and areas of creativity. Great concept, great grading, pretentious, uncommon. Definitely to watch.
