¿POR QUÉ LADY GAGA? Dentro del imaginario LGBT Gaga juega un importante papel. Antes que RuPaul, Aristemo y Sam Smith se vuelvan populares no era común que en la cultura mainstream gringa se hable de diversidad. La administración de Bush detuvo muchos proyectos de la comunidad y generó una cacería de brujas a las minorías. Las pops stars tenían legiones de fans LGBT pero muy pocas hablaban de ello. Hasta que llegó Gaga y el 2008.
Gaga en el pequeño Round Up Saloon en Texas, al que volvería en 2010 y 2012.
Realizó sus primeros conciertos en bares gays y habló desde sus inicios de la discriminación. Cuando alcanzó fama saludaba al público gay en su audiencia, reconociéndolos como parte de su éxito. El mejor momento vino en 2011 con Born This Way, álbum dedicado a los LGBT. Después de eso su activismo se hizo constante. Encarando al propio Obama por sus reformas homofóbicas. La lucha continúa.
