GUANABARA BAY
Proposal developed in the first year, where the goal was a project of a house / refuge on a steep lot located in the military area overlooking the Guanabara Bay and the President Costa e Silva Bridge. The VERSATILITY theme was given, with the theme emerged an ambience capable to connect with the environment and that could “open to it. The plan living room wall turns into a balcony and flat glass room turns into a coverage, expanding the room. A cut was made on the ground to not interfere with the view and a retaining wall to seat the construction. 11

The major problem found was to maintain an active commerce flow there. It was observed where the flow was intense and it was concluded that the left part of the site has a strong commerce. So, this area was designated to an ambience of permanence to provide a support to that existing and future commerce stream created from the new stores in the base of the building. The common area of the building was turned to this ambience because of the noise and a private entrance for the residents was created on the opposite side, making it more reserved. Finally, for these reasons and to have a better use of the views, the apartments were also located on the opposite side to that area with commerce. 40

The project was conceived through a grid where the larger spaces are located on two bays that become courtyards , which will be harnessed light and ventilation. From this concept , the spaces were divided to house two collections , Samba and Carnaval. They were linked but divided at the same time, so that visitors understand that there is a connection but are treated differently. The main flow is in the middle of the courtyards . Three basic materials were used, glass, brick and steel. The glass for the entry of the light in the courtyards , the steel for the apparent structure and brick lining , creating cobog贸s(brick lattice work) in certain areas for lighting and ventilation . There are areas for permanent and temporary exhibitions , two auditoriums and rooms for classes , an appropriate technical area and an administrative area . In addition, there is a bar that can be used without having to get into the building and the largest auditorium creates a connection to the arena through the door that exists behind the removable stage. 55

The mark “Heineken points to a socialization and enjoyment of the moment concept. Thus, it was thought of integration associated with each other and fluid ambiences. The common work area occurs in continuous plateaus which are separated by levels and there is lounge at a higher place, creating great communication and interaction among employees. This area is more free and is separate from the part of the directors and the chair that are more isolated. A central plaza was created to make more fluid and permeable ground. In addition there is a bar to help in the movement and security of the area.
