~the design is based on a relentless rush surrounding this place. this rush is pacified by placing a massive, calm volume in the centre of three prevalent city axes...koliste, kapitana jarose and milady horakove. each of them needs some termination or calming. therefore the design creates so called focus for its surroundings~

~the site is located in the city centre on a koliste street, which is an important feature of the city evolution. on behalf of the urban context is the site predestined to be dominant and representative~

BY LIFTING THE GALLERY MASS UP AND SUBTRACTING A CONAL HOLE IS ACCOMPLISHED THE FOCUSING EFFECT FOR PEDESTRIANS. THE HIDDEN HOLE ALSO PROVIDES INNER OUTER EXPERIENCE SHARING, WHICH IS CRUCIAL FOR PUBLIC BUILDINGS
COMPOSITION OF THE TWO MASSES WAS MADE BY RESPECTING NEEDS OF THE SURROUNDINGS.. EASTERN CRAFTS MASS CLOSES THE CURRENT BLOCK OF HOUSES AND THE WESTERN GALLERY MASS PROTRUDES OUT TO SHOW THE DOMINANCE
CURRENT BUSY SITUATION NEEDS A NEW DOMINATING FACTOR. A HOUSE ON A CORNER IS IDEAL TO SET tHINGS STRAIGHT AND CREATE A NEW IDENTITY FOR THE LOCATION

~the eastern wing is formed as a closing of the current block of houses and contains crafts spaces opened to the public. the western wing is formed as a dominant sculpture itself, closed to the public, and contains the exhibition spaces. the mass is lifted up, the facade is closed except one narrow pruning and the top corner is stretched upwards to create a structure desired to watch for and enter~
