The Kindle Fire is Amazon's first foray into the tablet market. Although it is still technically being promoted as an e-book reader, it can actually do a lot more than that. It is a fully functioning 7" full color touch screen device, capable of delivering not only books, but games, apps, video and a lot more. It's a great crossover between e-book reader and tablet, and at a very low cost. This Kindle Fire review will look at some of the main benefits and features of this wonderful device. How Does the Kindle Fire Compare with Amazon's Previous Kindles? The biggest difference between the Fire and previous incarnations of the Kindle is the function. The original Kindles (which are still the best e-book readers on the market) performed one function, and that was to enable the user to read books. They do have secondary functions such as on board mp3 players for audible books or music and a basic web browser, but that is all they are. The Fire is different because it is more like an all in one mobile entertainment center. It takes book reading one step further, and provides a fantastic screen to enable magazine content reading as well. The Kindle Fire's Main Features and Benefits To begin with, let's have a look at the main hardware specifications to see how it can handle things. 7" touch display with IPS (In Plane Switching), full color, 1024 x 600 pixels 8GB internal memory Up to 8 hours battery charge Wi-fi connectivity and USB connectivity Dual Core 1Ghz processor 512Mb RAM

It also has its own apps store (in fact many regular Android users frequent it from time to time), whereby a great deal of extra applications and software can be downloaded and used on it. As an e-book reader, it does the job admirably. The smooth presentation of the books, along with the interface for choosing, and reading the books is great. Pages flip effortlessly and the device is a joy to read from. Magazines and comic books really come alive thanks to its beautiful 16 million color display. Amazon also has access to the widest range of magazines and comic books around, so you will be able to take full advantage with the Kindle Fire. Amazon's Whispersync feature is also available on your Fire, enabling you to read the same book or magazine on a variety of without having to think what page you were on last. It will automatically open up for you. Thanks to the processing power and amount of storage on the Fire, you will be able to watch TV shows and movies quickly and easily. Amazon Prime is the premier way of obtaining video and the first month is free with your Fire purchase. With Amazon Prime, you are introduced to thousands of popular TV shows and movies. It is also possible to download Netflix and Hulu apps should you wish to choose those mediums in which to watch movies on the device, making it pretty flexible. Amazon is an excellent source of obtaining music too, and again it is possible to download albums and songs to your device. The quality is superb and easily surpasses CD quality bit rates. So far, this Kindle Fire review has covered the basic specs, reading, videos and music. What else could it possibly offer? The other main use people have for their tablets is of course internet access. The Amazon Silk browser is nothing short of amazing and offers smooth and speedy browsing. It also supports Flash, so while your iPad using friends struggle on flash web sites, you'll be displaying them with no problems at all. Of course, access to your emails is also supported so you will be kept up to date at all times. Amazon also offers free Cloud storage for all your Amazon content. At present, this is limited to 5gb per account, but no doubt this will be increased over time. This effectively provides you with 13gb of space if you add on the existing 8gb the Fire has. For the more business minded, the Fire also supports reading of PDF and Word doc files, so you can take your business reading matters with you as well. In all, the Kindle Fire is a superb machine, it is very competitively priced and offers so much in its compact body. This Kindle Fire review has highlighted many of the main features and benefits it has to offer, but there are many more to be explored. It is a wonderful device in which any e-book library would be at home with.
