Eddie and Butch

In the early ‘30s there was a man named “Easy Eddie,” lawyer of a famous Chicago mobster who specialized in bootlegging, prosAtuAon, gambling and murder. He was a very good lawyer and his skills had kept this mobster out of prison for a long Ame. For his services, he was compensated by every luxury money could buy. But despite his vast wealth and power through organized crime, he was a conflicted man. He realized one day, while watching his son at play, that the greatest giI he could give him was a life of integrity and a good name. So he decided to right all the wrongs he had done. He went to law enforcement and told the truth about his former client, the big shot Chicago mobster, and tesAfied against him. Within a year, he would be pay with his life in a blaze of gunfire. In the ‘40s, during World War II, a man named Butch, a Navy fighter pilot was sent on a mission. A squadron of Japanese fighters was speeding towards the American fleet. A dogfight followed with Butch destroying 5 enemy aircraI becoming the Navy’s first ace of World War II and the first Naval aviator to win the Medal of Honor. A year later at age 29, Butch was killed in aerial combat defending his country. What so special about these two stories? Butch is Easy Eddie’s son. The mobster is Al Capone. The family name is O’Hare, immortalized today as the O’Hare airport in Chicago. Truly one of the greatest giIs we can give to others is living a life of integrity and a good name…apv
