BREAKFAST FOR ADVENTURE SEEKERS

Breakfast is hands down my favorite meal of the day. Okay, maybe right after dessert. There is something about waking up to freshly brewed DRINK COFFEE DO STUFF, a stack of banana chocolate chip pancakes, and a side of bacon. However, I get it when you’re on vacation-slow mornings or cooking breakfast may not be your jam. You might be more into grabbing something delicious on the way to your next adventure. Whether you’re heading to Lake Tahoe or staying in the Biggest Little City, start your day at Perenn Bakery. They’re open daily. More of a bagel person? Maybe even a connoisseur of sorts? Let me introduce you to one of the only East Coast-style bagel shops in the region, Tahoe Bagel Co. in South Lake. While it may have only opened a few months ago, it’s quickly become a local hot spot. You can’t go wrong with an everything bagel and garlic herb spread, which is grandma’s special recipe. If you’re looking for a breakfast sandwich, I recommend the veggie on an everything pesto bagel and my better half likes the LOX breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel. I heard the Back to Life and Ruebenowitz sandwiches are local favorites! Now I’m just telling you all the local secrets. They are open daily at 6 a.m. and serve Black Cabin coffee! Whether you’re heading out for a day of skiing at a local resort or into the back county, you’ll likely want a hearty breakfast. In this case, swing by Fox and Hound for the Smokehouse Breakfast Burrito. Te burrito is stufed with eggs, cheese, hash browns, and your choice of pulled pork, smoked sausage, or tri-tip! I’m a pulled pork gal with the Fox & Hound mild barbecue sauce. Eat half for breakfast and save the other half for lunch! If you have time to dine in, I recommend ordering the Churro French Toast or Mountain Breakfast. Both are local favorites. (foxandhoundtahoe.com)

Speaking of breakfast burritos … you can’t go wrong with a classic breakfast burrito from Casey’s. Casey’s is one of those hidden gems located 5 minutes from Stateline in the Round Hill Mall. Their breakfast burrito includes eggs, cheese, beans, pico de gallo, and hash browns. It’s the perfect way to start any morning after a late night. (caseystahoe.net)
