The document with exact words was published by UGC dated July 31, 2020. This is interesting to know that UGC itself is focusing on the matter of higher education, on PhD admission in India. Why? Why did they feel a need to promote a PhD? India in recent years has grown so well that pursuing a PhD is not a big deal. Today, people are more focused on jobs, professional courses, etc. The ‘Dr’ as a suffix does not attract people. We do not have enough PhDs with us in any industry, except academic field. With a PhD degree, the employability has skyrocketed in the present scenario.
