Meet The Founder, Philippa Girling

The Chateau sits at the top of the small village of Beduer, with sweeping views of the Cele Valley Beduer is only 8km from the local market town of Figeac and is a 2-hour drive from a major airport (Toulouse) The location, grounds, and building are all perfectly suited for Camp Chateau.

What do you hope people takeaway from the first Summer?

We are hoping that our campers take away a wonderful feeling of being restored and rejuvenated, and heaps of joyful memories of the friends they have made and the fun that they have had

Camp Chateau grew from The Co-Founders' personal experiences in this particular region of France and their passion to provide an inclusive place for women where they could recharge and rejuvenate.

When they found the beautiful Château de Béduer they wanted to share this special place with as many women as possible and build something that would be both inclusive and fun.

The idea for shared bunkrooms and a summer camp vibe grew out of those conversations!

Why did you pick Beduer as the location to host it?

Philippa has been going to this valley in France for many years and knows it very well and when the property came up for sale she felt drawn to go and see it

She met with her family at the Château in September of 2021 and quickly discovered that this would be the perfect location to realize a lifelong dream to run a summer camp

The grounds are huge (20 acres), and there are three pools and multiple outbuildings as well as a Château that is in excellent repair and is fully furnished "

Who is the ideal candidate to go to Camp Chateau?

Camp Chateau is perfect for women who are looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating break These women love to travel and love to have a sense of fun.

Campers can choose to stay in one of the stunning shared chateau bedrooms, or enjoy the outdoor fun of a glamping tent for 2

There will be lots of camp activities to choose from each day, ranging from kayaking and horseback riding to yoga, water colouring, journaling, foraging, jam-making, herb gardening, and wine tasting, to name just a few Or you can choose to simply take a stroll around the grounds, read your book by the pool, or doze in one of the hammocks in the shade.

When does Camp Start? How long is the program?

The two Founders' weeks start on June 20th and June 27th

Our regular camp season starts on July 4th and sessions run for the next 6 weeks

Right now our programs run 1 week at a time

We would like to see our campers coming back every summer to reconnect with their campmates and to enjoy another week of relaxation at Chateau de Beduer

What is the Goal of the Camp Chateau brand? Will you expand or do you see yourselves only staying in France as the location?

Our goal is to provide relaxing and inclusive spaces for women

For now, we are focusing on our first location. If we see the demand then we would love to expand to other venues in the years to come

Perhaps one day there will be a Camp Castello in Italy or a Camp Castillo in Spain!
