KELLY ROWLAND TO PERFORM at CFW 2013 Music superstar and fashionista Kelly Rowland returns to Caribbean Fashionweek, Saturday, June 8. One-third of the famed Destiny’s Child, Kelly, solo artiste, girl group member and talent extraordinaire, is one of the most successful female entertainers in history. She will present a full concert performance, with her dancers and back-up singers. Regarding CFW, Kelly said, “I am looking forward once again to bringing my personal style, as well as my music, to the Caribbean’s big fashion event.” Kelly is expected to be the usual major draw for both international press and music lovers, inside and outside the Caribbean.

THE EVENT The largest, most far reaching and strategically important fashion event in the region, Caribbean Fashionweek will be presented at the National Indoor Sports Centre at Independence Park, in Jamaica’s National Stadium complex. Since 2001, Pulse has developed an event of the highest international standard to showcase the best of the Caribbean ’ s designers, as well as other globally recognized stylists from various parts of the world. Approximately 50 designers from 20 countries participate each year. The CFW Business Forum, Exhibition, superstar concert performances, supermodels, After Parties, tours and great experiences will all continue in 2013.

THE EVENT CFW has been the main catalyst for Caribbean fashion industry development. An ambitious project which has brought the world of fashion to the region, CFW seeks to focus international attention on what the Caribbean has to offer, while, at the same time, working with stakeholders to build capacity and generate business for Caribbean stylists. In the process CFW designers have been featured in Vogue, The Associated Press, The Independent (London), Fashion TV Paris, The New York Times, i-D, The BBC and a host of other media around the world. The event has received a number of awards and has been recognized by no less an entity than British Vogue, as an important new development in world fashion.


DESIGNERS CFW welcomes designers from all over the world. Couturiers from as far a field as Africa and Australia have presented collections on the Caribbean’s premier fashion runway. And, a steady complement of top stylists have also come from Europe and the Americas. The Caribbean’s finest including Cedella Marley’s Catch a Fire, Meiling, Sandra Kennedy,, Moncrieffe, Claudia Pegus, and Pauline Bellamy are among the 100 plus designers who have shown collections at CFW since 2001. Special guest designers have included the London-based and internationally regarded Jamaican, Jessica Ogden, British young designer of the year Kelly Jade Nichols, Nana Boateng and the Vogue acclaimed Gavin Douglas.

MEDIA The leading fashion media houses of the world have carried rave notices of CFW and, as is customary, key media houses are expected to be in attendance this year. Reviews have been published and shows and information disseminated in over 300 million people in more than 150 countries by several media houses including such industry leaders as Vogue, Fashion TV, i-D, The New York Times, Time Magazine, The BBC, The Independent (London) and The New York Daily News.

PARTNERS For the past 12 years, Caribbean Fashion Week has been presented in partnership with such entities as the Caribbean Export Development Agency, the Caribbean Fashion Industry Association, Jampro, the Jamaica Tourist Board, various related Governmental and non-Governmental agencies, as well as other regional industry professionals. The event is also presented in association with corporate partners from the private sector and is presented and produced by Pulse Investments Limited.

PRODUCERS Caribbean Fashion Week is produced by Pulse, a 33 year old fashion and entertainment company which pioneered the development of the modelling industries in the Caribbean and certain key aspects of the fashion industry generally. In addition to CFW, the company operates the Caribbean Model Search, produces several TV shows and discovered, developed and represents such supermodels as 11 time American Vogue model Jaunel McKenzie, one of the most successful models in the world. Jaunel was the world’s number one black model for over 3 years (Models.com); Vogue cover girls Jeneil Williams and Sedene Blake, many-time Vogue and Gucci campaign star, Nadine Willis; Esquire cover and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, Carla Campbell; ARENA covergirl Nell Robinson and Cosmopolitan covergirl Sunna Gottshalk, Italian Vogue models Oraine Barrett and Gaye Mc Donald. A new wave of Pulse models are currently entering the international market they include, Vogue, Chanel and Iman star Alexia Palmer, Bruce Burrowes and Adam Fernandez.
