Executive Summary  Overall, the survey revealed that: - Almost all banks interviewed have some form of digital banking strategy in place, so the journey has -

begun, but there is a long way to go. There is still time for banks in all the countries surveyed to establish competitive advantage. Customer satisfaction and loyalty are stronger business drivers than increased profits. Technology concerns are focused on choosing the right platforms and integrating with existing infrastructure. Organisational structure and staffing are potential key barriers if not properly addressed. Cooperation with partners is still at a low level, with German banks showing the most engagement. By country: - Banks in Italy are most likely to be leading in digital banking implementation, but still need to optimise their platforms. They are also preparing for real-time decision-making. - Banks in Germany are evolving digital efforts steadily, and are more likely to be engaged in partnerships (which are still at a low level overall), but are less focused on mobile payments. - The Spanish market is the most polarised, with many banks either leading or lagging behind the average – overall they believe they are the furthest behind and have the longest way to go with their digital platforms.

Important note: Due to the relatively small sample sizes, particularly per country, the results of this survey should be treated as being indicative of general trends, rather than as statistically accurate evidence of market circumstances.
