I’m a Spanish/Venezuelan architect with a double degree in Architecture as part of the exchange program between the universities of Venezuela and Italy. This experience allowed me to further explore my true interest for building restoration and develop a certain sensitivity when facing an architectural conservation project. On my thesis, I had the opportunity to venture into the world of Landscape Architecture and to my surprise, a new and enthusiastic interest grew from it. I consider myself a highly motivated and hard working person and as a professional, I am keen to learn and explore the vast and wonderful world that is architecture.
ORTO DI BORGO
MASTER’S THESIS / 2016 POLITECNICO DI TORINO - TURIN, ITALY PROPOSAL FOR THE ENHANCEMENT OF THE CULTURAL LANDSCAPE OF BORGO CORNALESE
In 2016 the natural reserve “Oasi del Po Morto” was awarded by the UNESCO with the status of Biosphere Reserve. The new status serves as a reminder of the importance of landscape in this region: the complex of Borgo Cornalese being one of its treasures as it is located in an area of historical importance and architectural interest. Founded over a thousand years ago, Borgo seems frozen in time as the buildings that are part of this compound preserve nowadays their aspect of the medieval farming burg. The manor villa with its rural court, two spacious farmsteads and a water mill built in the XVI century constitute the historical structures of this ensemble, the property of the De Maistre family since the second half of the 1800s. The landscape and architectural assets of Borgo are declared to be of cultural interest and their preservation is guaranteed (most of the time) by responsible authorities. The protection and
enhancement of this complex become therefore of great importance due to its current state of abandonment leading to an advanced deterioration of the buildings. As a response to this architectural emergency, a new proposal is developed for the enhancement of Borgo, not only the re-functionalization of an architectural complex but also to emphasize the importance of its surrounding landscape: the idea of a Botanical garden is conceived as a place of protection, promotion, and education about nature and environment. The following thesis is composed of three chapters representing the approach to the architectural conservation project and re-functionalization: getting to know the architecture and landscape, the architectural conservation project, the re-functionalization and enhancement proposal of Borgo Cornalese.

Design of the reinforcement of the original structural
The purpose of the project is to enhance the building and surrounding public spaces from an architectural and social point of view. For years they have been poorly used and slowly lost their value. As a response to this reality, the project proposes to modernize the building by giving a much stronger identity and a new use for the community’s enjoyment. The existing concrete structure is preserved and reinforced, its transformation process is approached in two different ways and corresponding to the structural need.

STEEL DESIGN
PUBLIC LIBRARY / 2012 UNIVERSIDAD CENTRAL DE VENEZUELA - CARACAS ALACERO / STEEL DESIGN CONTEST FOR ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS
This project partakes in the annual Alacero Steel Design Competition for Architecture Students which encourages the use of steel in the Latin American building industry. As a result, this material is used at every step of the project: the structure and building enclosure are combined to create a single object. Implantation strategies of the building:
Plot’s original state
Phase 1: Topographic adaptation of the plot to create new terraces
10
Phase 2: Implantation of the building
It is desired that the piece stands out in the urban context, taking advantage of the visuals around it. The main volume rises on the surface and contains the library plus its associated uses. The lower body is built from the topographical adaptation of the terrain, generating terraces on three levels and different uses in each one of them.
