Open 24 hours, this special place is a quiet, comfortable center located in an historic adobe building that was once home to the Robert Wood Johnson family (Johnson & Johnson), built for their stays at Ghost Ranch.

Labyrinth, Karesansui Garden & Medicine Water Wheel

In this place of spirit, take time to be still and listen. Walk the half-mile path of the labyrinth (located near the Arts Center, modeled on the design in Chartres Cathedral), sit on the contemplation benches at the Karesansui (Zen garden) or Medicine Water Wheel for prayer, meditation, reflection and mindfulness.

Explore Service Opportunities at Ghost Ranch Service Corps participants give 25

hours of service per week (about 5 hours a day) to Ghost Ranch in exchange for dorm-style or campground lodging and all lunches. To upgrade from dorm-style lodging, pay the difference in lodging fee.

JUNE 23 THROUGH AUGUST 10 Registration is $145, which includes a Service Corps T-shirt. The cost for all breakfasts and dinners for the week is $135.00.

Service Corps helps with construction projects, maintenance, landscaping and other activities such as helping in the Library, the Trading Post and the Dining Hall.

For the Little People CHILDREN & YOUTH ACTIVITIES at GHOST RANCH While adults spend mornings and evenings immersed in a workshop of their choice, youth spend mornings and evenings experiencing all kinds of new activities under the guidance of our trained staff. Some adult courses have afternoon or all-day schedules, please note these times when registering so as to make arrangements for child care during the periods that have no youth activities.

The Family Center is a safe, comfortable place for children under the age of 3 to play and rest. Child care is not provided. Spontaneous co-ops of parents and relatives are often organized.

• For 10th to 12th Grade • Youth in grades 10-12 must enroll in one of the following. 1. One of our scheduled workshops OR 2. Senior High Youth Initiative $365 per youth for the week. Senior high youth will partake in activities involving service learning, leadership development, cultural awareness and sustainability education, along with fun on the waterfront, rope courses and working together to lead their own campout. Times are flexible and may include some afternoons.

About Your Stay Peace, Quiet, Stars, Simplicity

Simple Lodging Lodging and meals are packaged together. Unless otherwise specified, lodging rates are double occupancy. Ghost Ranch offers rustic lodging accommodations reflective of its origins as a working ranch. Our rooms are basic, no frills, but clean and comfortable, all with magnificent views. All units provide breathtaking vistas of colorful sandstone cliffs, cottonwoods and distant mountains. Rooms do not have air conditioning but most have fans. Sleeping rooms are free from phones, televisions, internet and alarm clocks. Cell phone service is very limited and Wi-Fi access is available only at certain spots around the Ranch. We suggest you bring a calling card or credit card, if you need to make telephone calls.

All lodging options are within walking distance of classroom buildings, the Dining Hall, Library and other structures via non-paved roads. Expect loose gravel and uneven terrain. Rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to those with accessibility requirements. In all lodging options, if you do not register with a companion, a roommate may be assigned to you during busy periods on the Ranch. We observe the honor system at Ghost Ranchâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;while our guest rooms with private and shared bathrooms are equipped with key-pad locksâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;rooms in our communal bath facilities do not have locks. All buildings at Ghost Ranch are nonsmoking.

All-Inclusive Packages Workshop Pricing Structure

The Ghost Ranch 2015 workshop pricing structure packages your tuition, workshop materials, lodging and meals together in a single rate. Prices are presented for each type of lodging available for the workshop you select. All rates are Per Person, Double Occupancy, unless otherwise specified. If you are a single person and do not specify a roommate below in the lodging section, a roommate of the same gender will be assigned to share your lodging space. You may also request a single occupancy upgrade for an additional $50 per night (based on availability). The first two guests in a room pay the full packaged rate. Each additional adult sharing the same room pays 60% of the Private Bath packaged rate. Beyond two guests sharing a room, youth are charged the youth activiities rate found on page 11. Meals begin with dinner on the day of arrival through breakfast on the day of departure. No refunds are available for missed meals or voluntary early departure.

In all lodging options, if you do not register with a companion, a roommate may be assigned to you during busy periods on the Ranch. A private room can be guaranteed for an extra $50 per night in addition to the price listed, when space is available.

Camping Rates Camping rates do not include meals. The camping rates listed with workshop descriptions are for tent sites without electricity. RV sites with full hookups are $10 more than the listed price per day. Tent sites with electricity are $5 more than the listed price per day.

Staying Off-Site/ Commuter Rate Participants staying off-site pay 60% of the Private Bath packaged rate. If you live in Rio Arriba County in New Mexico, please contact our Registrarâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Office for an additional 10% discount. Proof of residency required.

Rest & Recreation

You Choose Everyone needs some rest and recreation in their lives. Ghost Ranch has just the setting and the right balance of activity and non-activity for you. Several options are available for R&R guests to pick and choose during the week, depending on their desired schedule. You are welcome to participate in as many or as few offerings as you desire, to find the mix of rest and fun that works best for you. Please note: The activities listed are a sampling of possible opportunities for R&R guests. Activities vary by week, depending on staffing and seasonal availability.

You will receive information about the options for your R&R week before your arrival. CASA DEL SOL Retreat House at Ghost Ranch Located two miles from the main campus, Casa del Sol is a retreat house at Ghost Ranch dedicated to deeper spiritual contemplation. In 2015, many workshops that are conducive to small group work and contemplative space are being held at Casa del Sol. These workshops are designated with the sun symbol beside the title throughout the description pages.

Earth-Honoring Faith continued

Geraldine Patrick Encina (Mapuche) is a member of the Otomi-Hñahñu Regional Council in Mexico and an in-depth researcher of the ancestral ways of conceiving and measuring cycles in Mesoamerica. She understands why the Otomi and Maya chose 2012-2013 as the time for the closing and opening of big cycles.

Janet Parker is an ordained United Church of Christ minister and serves at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Salem, Oregon. Her Ph.D. in Christian Ethics from Union Theological Seminary was based on her dissertation entitled, “For All Our Relations: Ecofeminist and Indigenous Challenges to Sustainable Development.”

Dorothy Natonabah Saucedo (Navajo) is a Deacon in the Episcopal Church, has done intertribal work and is comfortable with both her traditional Navajo ways and her Christianity. Dorothy comes from a large family that includes both adherents to traditional ways and Christianity. She makes her home in Arizona.

Mindahi Bastida Muñoz (Otomi) is General Coordinator of the OtomiHñahñu Regional Council in Mexico and a researcher and guardian of the ancestral sacred Otomi knowledge and original peoples of Mesoamerica. Mindahi is in charge of carrying out the main Otomi ritual events based on the ancestral calendars.

Larry L. Rasmussen is Reinhold Niebuhr Professor Emeritus of Social Ethics at Union Theological Seminary, New York City. He is the author of numerous articles, reviews and books, including Earth Community, Earth Ethics, which won the prestigious Grawemeyer Award in Religion. His most recent book is Earth-honoring Faith: Religious Ethics in a New Key, published in 2013.

Family Week provides rich and endless opportunities for families of all shapes and sizes to enjoy time together in learning, creative arts, play and adventure. After registering, you will receive a communication with a registration form to select your different course choices. Family Week Host: Sharon Edwards Mornings have several options (you can mix or match from the different options): A. Family Courses – offered in 2-morning blocks Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday, Friday B. Adult Courses - offered in 2-morning blocks Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday, Friday C. Youth Programming – offered Tuesday-Fridayfor Youth (ages 3-18) who do not go into a Family Course or for those whose parent or grandparent is taking an Adult Course. Afternoons offer various special activities for all ages, including offerings such as guided hikes, Open Art Studio, music jam sessions and more. All guests are welcome to attend afternoon activities, but will need to sign up for them before or upon arrival. Judith Favor Ravi Verma The Stillpoint Formation and Training Program is scheduled to begin with classes held beginning November 2014 through March 2016. “The Spiritual Journey” is a prerequisite for this program. A certificate is awarded at completion. Those who are accepted, will travel to Ghost Ranch for four, one-week residential intensives (two separate weeks each year).

An experienced staff of distinguished spiritual directors will facilitate sessions using roleplays, presentations, discussions, spiritual practices, demonstrations, contemplative exercises and prayer. The Stillpoint program is noted for its engagement and is a practicum. We spend hours practicing the art of spiritual direction with participants and staff so that graduates may experience and perfect their gifts in being spiritually present to others. Participants find that their lives change as their gifts of deep listening and presence emerge.

Winter Solstice in the seasonal cycle is the time for the seeds to rest, when the shortest days pass into the longer, when thanks are given for the change of dark into light. It is a revered time for the Rio Grande pueblos. During this week, you will see the animal dances of the pueblos. Among the possibilities of dances are the Buffalo dance at Jemez Pueblo, the Deer dance at Taos Pueblo, Comanche dance at Tesuque or the Matachines on Christmas Eve at Ohkay-Owinge Pueblo. All-inclusive rate includes accommodation at Casa del Sol, a lovely, peaceful hacienda at Ghost Ranch, and all meals and transportation during the week.

About Your Stay Registration Fees & Payment Payment is due when you register. If you are unable to pay in full or make a deposit of 50%, please contact the Registrar’s Office to make arrangements by calling either 505.685.1001 or 505.685.1017. Payment may be made by check payable to Ghost Ranch or by credit card–Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card.

Travel Dates & Check-in The first and last dates listed are considered travel days unless otherwise noted. Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m. on the first date listed for your workshop with dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by a Ghost Ranch orientation unless otherwise noted. Check-out time is 10:00 a.m. on the last date listed for your workshop. Most workshops have morning (9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.) and evening (7:00-8:30 p.m.) sessions, with afternoons free. Weekend/ shorter workshop offerings may have a more intense schedule. Some workshops may offer optional afternoon studio time or an occasional field trip. These are noted in the workshop description.

Meals Meals are served cafeteria style, with choice of indoor or outdoor dining. Menus include vegetarian entrees. A salad bar is featured at lunch and dinner each day. We have a Farm to Table program using our own seasonal farm produce whenever possible.

Please contact our registrar’s office to discuss special needs. Breakfast: 7:30-8:30 a.m. Lunch: Noon-1:00 p.m. Dinner: 5:30-6:30 p.m. If you will be arriving after 6:30 p.m., we suggest that you eat in Española or Cafe Abiquiu at the Abiquiu Inn.

Cancellation Policy Written notification must be received no later than 45 days prior to the start date of your course in order to receive a refund, minus a $100 processing charge. No refunds will be processed after that time. We reserve the right to announce a change in leadership or cancel any program 45 days prior to the first day of the course. In that event, you may transfer to another course without charge or we will refund the full course payment. Many participants have found it helpful to purchase travel insurance.

Arriving Early or Staying After If you are coming earlier or staying later than your course dates, you must make extended stay reservations by calling either 505.685.1001 or 505.685.1017. Stays before or after your class will be charged at the regular overnight lodging fee.

Lodging Types Rooms with Private Bath Comfortably furnished with neutral hues and a Southwestern theme, most rooms have two beds (a queen + twin, or a full + twin), a dresser, nightstand, lamp, chair and closet. Each room has its own bathroom with a shower. Some rooms sleep up to 3 people; however, a limited number of these are available. On the mesa level, two lodging units with private baths have a common room in the center of the building with comfortable furniture, tables, chairs and a gas fireplace, perfect for a group gathering. There are several ADA accessible rooms in these units. There are several units on the main level (close to the Dining hall) that are spacious, ADA accessible rooms.

Rooms with Shared Bath These spacious, comfortably furnished rooms sit in the historical sections of Ghost Ranch. Most are close to the Dining Hall and Library, with a few behind the Corral Block lodging building. Most of these older units have a bedroom with two beds (a double + a twin or two twin beds), a dresser, a nightstand with

a lamp, a chair and a closet. Every room shares a bath with an adjoining room; the bath is located between the two rooms. In a few units, two rooms also share a sitting area/living room. Some rooms sleep up to 3 people, however, a limited number of these are available.

CASA DEL SOL

Private Bath, Shared Bath & Hermitages Casa del Sol hosts Ghost Ranch courses that are spiritual in nature, and its rooms are set aside for participants in classes with a “CDS” in the course number. This charming, historic hacienda was built in the 1930’s. Anchored under the Puerto de Cielo rock formation two miles from the main Ranch campus, it has a spacious courtyard looking out on the desert and and Pedernal, the area’s landmark mountain. It has a fireplace, kitchen and simple living space surrounded by inspiring landscapes. Six bedrooms share three bathrooms; a seventh room has its own private bath. Most rooms have doors that open onto the courtyard.

Lodging Types There are three hermitages that can be used for short or extended stays. The hermitages are self-contained with their own bathroom, small refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. They are for people seeking sabbatical/retreat time.

Rooms with Communal Bath Dorm rooms with a communal bath down the hall or in another building reflect the history and dude ranch culture of Ghost Ranch’s past. Multiple bunk beds and very simple furnishings, keep them among Ghost Ranch’s most affordable options. Mesa units, very rustic, have one bedroom with two beds (2 sets of bunks, or a twin + bunk bed) and a dresser, chair, shelf, mirror and reading lamp. Many rooms have a sink. Shared bath with a sink and a toilet are located in each building, down the breezeway. Showers are located in nearby buildings. These units sleep up to three people. Some buildings have a central lounge area with large screen windows that have stunning views. A few rooms on the main level sleep up to seven or eight people and are perfect for groups. Some rooms have a closet, dresser, chair and desk; others have closets and sofas. Large communal bathrooms and showers are located outside, a few steps down a breezeway or covered porch. Staff House has smaller rooms but has comfortable interior commu-

nal spaces, open fields for play and stargazing and is close to the Dining Hall. Corral Block has larger rooms, an open field for play and stargazing, and is close to the Museums, Lower Pavilion meeting space, and the Welcome Center. It is a 5–10 minute walk to the Dining Hall.

Campground with Communal Bath

Open from mid-May until early October, Ghost Ranch’s most affordable lodging option, the camping sites are nestled in a canyon surrounded by red rocks. The Campground has facilities for tent camping, with or without electricity. Most sites have a table and a fire ring and only a very limited number have shade. Campfires are permitted only when weather conditions allow. The communal bath house is equipped with an ice machine, shared refrigerator, showers, sinks and coin-operated laundry. There is a 10-20 minute walk to the Dining Hall and meeting rooms. No pets are allowed in the campground (except for approved assistance animals). Full hookup sites include water and a dump station at the site, and 30and/or 50-amp electric hookups. There are only a small number of full hookup sites, available on a first come, first served basis.

Helpful Information Health: Ghost Ranch is committed to accommodating all individuals who wish to participate in our programs and be part of our community. Located in the high desert at an altitude of 6,500 feet, Ghost Ranch is very remote from medical facilities. The nearest hospital is 35 miles away and the Ranch provides only basic first aid services. The Abiquiu Clinic is 15 miles away but has limited hours and services. There is a 5-15 minute walk from most rooms to the Dining Hall, Library, Museums and meeting rooms. We strongly urge people with health challenges to consult with their physician before registering. Remember to bring a sufficient supply of medications for your time here. Weather: The high desert altitude (6,500 feet) can produce extremely variable weather. Winter and spring temperatures can range from lows of zero or below at night to highs of 70° at midday; be prepared for rain and/or snow. What to Bring: To make your stay more comfortable you may want to pack the following: comfortable, casual clothes you can layer • sturdy walking shoes • rain gear • water bottle• hat • flashlight • sun block • toiletries • alarm clock • hair dryer • bathrobe • calling card or credit card to make telephone calls • cash for purchases in shops on the Ranch. There is no on-site ATM. Computers & Telecommunications: We offer free Wi-Fi access in select locations on the Ranch. A terminal with internet access in the Trading Post Café is available 24-hours. Due to Ghost Ranch’s remote location, cell phones may not work. Some phones are available for guest use to make long-distance calls with your credit card. Some wireless hot spots (for cell phones and laptops) may be found at various places on the Ranch. Persons with Special Needs: Children and adults with disabilities are welcomed at Ghost Ranch. Please contact the Registrar’s Office to discuss the type of accommodations you may need. This includes, but is not limited to, wheelchair accessible bedrooms, bathrooms and special diets. A limited number of golf carts are available for use by persons with special needs. Cost per week is noted on the registration form. A valid driver’s license is required and a golf cart policy agreement must be signed. Please call 505.685.1002 for golf cart needs. Please note all of your special needs on the registration form. If you use a wheelchair or scooter and need shuttle service from the Albuquerque airport to Ghost Ranch call 505.685.1002. Pet Policy: NO PETS are allowed at Ghost Ranch, including the campground, except assistance animals with prior notification to the Registrar’s Office.
