PRE-EVENT Democracy Building Through Deliberative Dialogue Tuesday-August 30-Wednesday August 31, 2016 “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.” –II Timothy 1:7 Ghost Ranch and Iliff School of Theology will co-sponsor an exciting daylong pre-retreat event for clergy, lay leaders, seminary students, social activists and citizens of faith or conscience. We invite all concerned or discouraged by the growing uncivil discourse to explore how to hold political tensions and still fully engage in the democratic process through deliberative dialogue. Learn skills to transform divisive views that might arise within a congregation or community. This pre-event seminar is designed to build a strong framework for the ensuing four-day retreat, Wisdom Sharing: Refuse to be Polarized, featuring Sister Helen Prejean, Sharon Salzberg, the Rev. Adam Taylor and the three co-founders of the Holistic Life Foundation. Participants may register for both or either event individually.
