STAFF MATTERS

Update for Catskill Regional Medical Center employees, physicians and volunteers

November/December 2014

A Message From Our Leader This year, in an effort to better align ourselves with the GHVHS mission, we have enhanced our staff performance appraisal to further define and incorporate “Always” behaviors within the evaluation process. Caring. Communication. Cleanliness. Comfort. Coordination. These are the essentials that comprise our “Always” events at Catskill Regional. An “Always” event refers to the most important facets of the patient experience. As healthcare providers, and because we know that our patients and their families - our customers - expect to receive the best delivery of care, we should always get it right. Dr. Gerard Galarneau CEO & CMO

“Always” events are also defined as the behaviors that each staff member should take every day while interacting with patients and their families; always treating our customers with the utmost respect and dignity and without judgment. Every member of our staff will be evaluated on key behavioral indicators within the Standards of Behavior portion of their annual performance evaluation effective January 1, 2015. If you have not reviewed this updated document please speak with your supervisor or contact your Human Resource Business Partner. Please have a wonderful holiday season! I wish each and every one peace, happiness and good health.

Sincerely,

Dr. Gerard Galarneau, CEO & CMO

Catskill Regional Medical Center Receives 2013 Quality Improvement Award Catskill Regional is a recipient of the New York State Perinatal Quality Collaborative (NYSPQC) Obstetrics Improvement Project’s 2013 Quality Improvement Award. This award was given in recognition of the hard work and dedication of the Catskill Regional staff that reduced scheduled newborn deliveries without medical indication between 36 and 39 weeks gestation. As a participant in the NYSPQC Obstetrical Improvement Project, Catskill Regional reported zero scheduled deliveries without medical indication during 2013. The best outcomes for newborns are when a delivery occurs after 39 weeks of gestation. “This is the highest level achievement possible for the Improvement Project and we commend the entire Obstetrical team for their exemplary work and commitment to improving outcomes for mothers and babies,” said Catskill Regional Medical Center Administrator of Nursing Professional Practice, Laura Northrup. Through the Improvement Project, Catskill Regional has the opportunity to learn from faculty and colleagues; receive individual coaching; gather new knowledge on the subject matter and process improvement; share experiences and collaborate on improvement plans, and create strategies to overcome improvement barriers. For more information, contact Laura Northrup at 794-3300 x 281 or northrupl@crmcny.org.
