I HAVE AN UNEXPLAINABLE FONDNESS FOR TRAM CARS. AND DUE TO THIS UNEXPLAINABLE FONDNESS, I FIND MYSELF PHOTOGRAPHING THEM QUITE A LOT. WHENEVER I FIND MYSELF STROLLING AROUND A NEW CITY I ALWAYS PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO ITS TRAMS. THEIR SHAPES, THEIR COLOURS, WETHER THEY ARE MODERN OR OBSOLETE, RUSTY OR IMMACULATE, ALL OF THESE FEATURES HELP PAINT A MORE COMPREHENSIVE PICTURE OF A PLACE IN MY EYES. THIS PHOTOBOOK SERVES AS MY LITTLE TRIBUTE TO TRAMS ALL AROUND EUROPE. PHOTOS TAKEN BETWEEN 2013 AND 2014 IN BUDAPEST, OSLO, PRAGUE, VIENNA, AND KRAKÓW.
(I) OSLO, N TRAMS IN OSLO HAVE FIRST MADE THEIR APPEARENCE IN THE YEAR 1875, WITH A LINE WHICH CONNECTED THE NEIHGHBORHOOD OF HOMANSBYEN, OSLO WEST RAILWAY STATION AND GRØNLAND.
(II) KRAKÓW, PL FOR CRACOVIANS, THE TRAM IS THE MAIN MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION FOR GETTING AROUND, AS IS THE CASE IN OTHER MAJOR POLISH CITIES.
( II I ) B U D A P E S T , H CURRENTLY, THE HUNGARIAN CAPITAL’S TRAM NETWORK IS MADE UP OF 33 LINES, WITH MOST TRAMS RUNNING BETWEEN 5 AM AND 11 PM, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF LINE 6, WHICH RUNS NON-STOP.
(IV) VIENNA, A THE AUSTRIAN CAPITAL’S TRAM NETWORK IS THE WORLD’S 6TH LARGEST, WITH A TOTAL LENGHT OF 176.9 KM AND 1071 STATIONS ALL OVER THE CITY.
(V) PRAGUE, CZ PRAGUE’S FLEET OF TRAM CARS RANGES FROM THE ICONIC TATRA T3 (PICTURED), A TRAM THAT WAS (AND STILL IS) POPULAR ALL OVER THE FORMER EASTERN BLOC ASWELL AS THE SOVIET UNION, TO THE CONTEMPORARY ŠKODA 15T, A MODERN LOW-FLOOR TRAM THAT FIRST APPEARED ON PRAGUE’S STREETS IN 2010.
