We launched our first virtual Italy conference this September!

This year, we hosted our first event for the industry to discuss growth of the Italian structured products market. Launching a conference during the pandemic, we were unsure of what the final event would look like.

For me, having met only a handful of contacts in the market beforehand, it was a pleasure working with and getting to know more of our Italian network. I believe conferences work best when speakers share their ideas openly and offer concrete strategies to help drive industry growth – this was undoubtedly the way this event came to life. I am grateful to all the speakers for their openness, optimism and flexibility during this time.

Historical data comprising the last five years shows that structured products maturing in Italy averaged above four percent annualised return with just 13% of products delivering a negative performance.

SRP Italy Performance Report 2020

This is the first performance report that SRP releases for the Italian market, and it comes at a truly testing time for the structured product market.

The period covered by the report, from 2014 to June of this year (2020), has been eventful, and included several regional crises, troubled markets, economic and political tensions, and, more recently, a global pandemic. However, in spite of this uncertainty, as the study shows, structured products have proven their worth - they deserve to be an integral part of Italian retail investor portfolios, allowing access to tailored investment strategies while diversifying risk exposure.
