MARC CHAGALL 1887-1985 Title: The Clock / L'Horloge, 1975 Technique: Original Hand Signed Oil Monotype on Japan nacrĂŠ paper Paper Size: 66.5 x 51.5 cm / 26.1 x 20.2 in Image Size: 40 x 30 cm / 15.7 x 11.8 in Additional Information: This colour monotype is hand signed in pen, with black ink, "Marc Chagall" at the lower right corner of the image. The work was painted with Oil paint on a copper plate by Chagall and then it was pulled on paper by Jacques Frelaut in 1975. This work is a unique piece. This monotype is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Patrick Cramer, the internationally recognized expert for Chagall's Monotypes. Provenance: The Estate of Marc Chagall

Pierre Brune (1887-1956) was a Frenchh artist, founder and first director of the MusĂŠe d'art moderne de CĂŠret from 1950 to 1956. He was a very good friend of Pablo Picasso who gave him some works of his. He then constitued a highly recognised collection of artworks from Modern artists from Matisse and Picasso to surrealists like Andre Masson.

The work is hand signed by the artist "C.P." on the lower left side. Provenance: Collection Anneberg, USA. Walter Annenberg, an American philanthropist and his wife Leonore Annenberg were avid collectors of art and collected a large amount of French Impressionist works during their lifetimes. Many pieces from the collection are now housed at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
