Christian Aid Gaza Emergency Appeal Collection ‘Christian Aid is explicit in its concern for the security of Israeli and Palestinian civilians alike, and have publicly condemned the escalating violence by all sides.’ Their partner Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS) are managing to operate two medical clinics and are providing desperately needed emergency treatment to approximately 8,000 people every day who are taking refuge in UN schools. Judith Barber will be at the back of church at the end of the service to receive donations. Services to commemorate the Outbreak of WW1 on 4th August. The outbreak of WW1 was at 23:00pm GMT on 4th August. To commemorate this occasion there will be a Vigil service, authorised by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, in St Mary’s at 22:00pm followed by an Act of Remembrance at the war memorial in Friary Gardens at 23:00pm. The Royal Military Police, members of the Royal British Legion and Civic dignitaries will join us for the service. Archbishop Welby said ” The centenary of the outbreak of the First World War raises a confusion of emotions and memories. I encourage you to use these resources (this service) to lift both the beauty and the agony of that sacrifice to God.” THE OXFORD GARGOYLES – prestigious vocal musical group including our former Head Chorister, Daniel Overin – offering their services free of charge in aid of the church Disability Access Toilet Project this Friday 8 th August 7.00pm St Mary’s Church.
