Honeywell Defence Products Reduced Downtime

oneywell (NYSE: HON) and S&K Logistics Services have entered into a new service agreement that will reduce aircraft downtime and cut costs for Foreign Military Sales customers worldwide. S&K Logistics Services, an industry-leading provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul services, made the collaboration with Honeywell official at a signing ceremony on Day 1 of Dubai Airshow.

The agreement with S&K Logistics Services (SKLS) will support Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers, with fast, reliable repairs and maintenance for all their Honeywell parts. Downtime is expensive and inconvenient for operators, but necessary to maintain aircraft. Honeywell has maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centres all over the world with its extensive network of channel partners. Through this collaboration, operators will benefit from reduced turnaround time and faster access to local MRO services on a global scale.

“The work we do is mission critical,” said John Sims, president of S&K Logistics Services. “Joining forces with a global company like Honeywell gives us the infrastructure and reach needed to ensure we are able to provide local and efficient services to our customers. FMS users can get their required parts faster and have the reassurance of Honeywellbacked original equipment manufacturer support on all parts. This reduces aircraft downtime and costs, allowing operators to keep the focus on the mission.” The five-year servicing agreement will cover all of Honeywell’s defence products and services, including engines, avionics and mechanical components. The agreement between S&K Logistics Services and Honeywell will offer direct support to military operators and allow FMS users easy access to expert servicing professionals at the same high standards of safety and reliability that Honeywell applies to its own products. “With this agreement, our FMS users in the Middle East and the rest of the world will benefit from Honeywell’s global network of repair and overhaul sites,” said Mosab Alkubaisy, director for Defense and Space, Middle East and Africa, at Honeywell Aerospace. “Buying Honeywell’s parts gives customers a one-stop shop for all their military procurement needs. ever before has building a next generation workforce, equipped with the right skills and the right tools for success been so critical. As the world emerges from lockdown and racism, businesses, governments and citizens will have to adapt to changes in the way we work, live and play. How do we ensure that the the engineering workforce is, in turn, educated about racial equality and trained to provide the expectations of the ‘new customer’? Being prepared for the challenges that our society will face requires knowledge of future skills among the workforce of every engineers. Despite the challenges that the regional and global economies will be bracing for in the months ahead, we should not be deterred from our mission. A new generation of engineers is ready to make an impact in the private sector by serving their countries; our priority is to play our role in helping to bring that into fruition. This is especially important with the fundamental makeup of the workforce changing. The pandemic and social unrest has only made it all the more obvious that we need to have a value-driven purpose and right skillset that is able to deliver to international principledcentered leadership. By doing so, we can provide our future engineers and scientists with the right training and soft skills so that they are moved into leadership and management roles, that is socially just, equal and fair. This is where they can focus on the future and manage the moral transformation that we are going through, just like the rest of the world.

To help families enjoy their time together, here’s a guide for parents on how to help their children thrive at remote schooling and tips on how to engage children effectively. There is a huge difference between elective ‘homeschooling’ and adapting to it very unexpectedly, but there many ways families can balance multiple children’s workloads whilst considering each child’s individual needs and keeping on top of learning schedules. During this time, it is important to recognise that this is an abnormal situation to be in, so be kind to yourself and look at the positives in every situation.

TALK ABOUT IT Children easily pick up on conversations and uncertainty parents might be experiencing. As a result, this can lead to changes in a child’s behaviour, schooling and overall wellbeing. It is important to regulate the content that is seen on 68

the news and discussed during phone conversations with friends and family. Try to take those conversations away from children to help reduce unnecessary worry. Talk to children about any fears or worries they might have and validate their feelings by addressing any questions that come up. During this time especially, it is important to create an honest and calm space for children to address concerns.

TRY TO STICK TO A ROUTINE Before any routine, it is important to take a step back and consider how easy it will be to stick to. Keeping a normal consistent routine for young children can be a stress reliever. To ensure a sense of normality for children, plan a routine that mimics a normal day at school or nursery by incorporating playtime, arts and crafts, fun activities that involve other family members and reading. When planning a schedule, it is important to remember that things do not always go to plan, so try not to live by the clock and be flexible to adapt to changes when needed.

At the same time, it is important not to get overwhelmed by the thought that your child may fall behind. You can do some trials and ask an expert to find the right balance and the suitable environment that will improve you child’s skills.   If your child is not adapting to a set period of online learning, then adapt to spreading the work little and often across the day. It is important to recognise that this period is also a huge transition for children to adapt to as well. Children may also be facing anxieties, so it is important to not add to them by setting overly high expectations during this abnormal situation.

Tips for working parents homeschooling their children:

• Do as much housework as possible before children wake up • Planning meals at the weekend for the week ahead and prepping as much as possible helps alleviate meal stress and tantrums which will hurt your health and the people around you. • Talk to the children about the need for their support and discuss the weekly plans with them to get everyone involved and on board before the week begins

• Have a schedule for the week where children and family members can video call friends and family, giving everyone something to look forward to • Take some time after putting the kids to bed to prepare for their learning the next day and reduce the stress of trying to find the required resources and documents just before lessons • If the week is not going to plan, be prepared to adapt the working schedule around the children and if need be, catch up at a time when things have calmed down, or in the evening • Advise children in advance of important work calls so that everyone can respect the need to be quiet during this time           Children represent the future. How to Properly Clean and Sanitize Your Homemade Face Mask

ith face masks becoming mandatory in several countries, it is important to ensure you keep your mask clean, in order to maximize its effectiveness. Since we need to wear face masks to slow the spread of COVID-19, people have taken it as a normal part of life, but there are just a handful who know how to keep them clean. The dos and donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ts of maintaining hygiene, especially when it comes to face masks, is of utmost importance. Using the same cloth mask daily without cleaning it will not shield you from the virus and may actually have the opposite effect.

Here are six key tips for maintaining the effectiveness of your face masks:

How often do you need to wash your face mask? Your face mask should be washed regularly. We cannot stress on that enough. The virus may stay active on fabric for a long period of time, which makes it absolutely necessary to wash your face mask at least once a day. If you suspect that someone you have been in close contact with is infected, you should put the mask to wash immediately and use a fresh one. Apart from the virus, the masks also tend to collect any sweat, oil or makeup from skin, which may also affect your health.

What fabric is suitable for a face mask? Cotton fabric is the perfect material for a face mask. With an ideal thread count of about 200 with up to three layers of fabric, this material is effective in filtering out the virus as well as blocking any pathogens from entering. With the strict protocol of wearing the face mask while on the move, it is essential to be comfortable with your face mask and the cotton fabric provides the right amount of breathability. It is also recommended to use white color masks that can be washed in higher temperatures. How should you handle your face mask after use? Upon returning home, we recommend that the first thing you do is take off your mask carefully and place it in the laundry bin until you can wash it. You may opt to leave it in the bin for 24 hours or more in quarantine, which is known to allow the virus to decay. Do not let the mask come into contact with any other family member.

How can you disinfect cloth masks? A machine wash at a high temperature with quality detergents is good enough to kill the virus. However, if you want to avoid running a machine load just for a single mask, you can also toss in your clothing items that you wore to step-out as well. If you prefer to hand-wash your mask, ensure that you get into every inch of the mask and clean it using the correct amount of chemical. Additionally, soaking the mask in hot water for 10-minutes and then rinsing it thoroughly, will also help to remove all the pathogens. Avoid using bleach completely as the constant smell can cause nausea and headaches.

What is the appropriate temperature to wash a face mask? Viruses cannot withstand high temperatures, therefore, washing face masks at a temperature of more than 60 degrees help disinfect the mask. Since fabrics with dark colors fade after a couple of washed at high temperatures, it is advisable to make or buy the fabric mask in lighter shades.

How should a face mask be dried? After washing your mask, it is best to dry it at a high temperature since heat also sanitizes the mask. For masks with a plastic filter and valve, you will need to be extra careful and air-dry or sun-dry them. A hairdryer can also be used as an easy and effective dryer. Sunlight is another excellent natural sanitizing agent. Since the starting temperature of an average household iron is 140 degrees Celsius, ironing the mask post-drying will provide an added measure to ensure that the virus is completely eliminated.

The report reveals the different levels of support required by each sector. • 44% of energy sector participants found the regulations especially challenging; compared to only 11% in the infrastructure sector.

Whilst these challenges exist, participants highlighted the UAE as a leader in the development of regulation. • 89% of infrastructure and 85% of energy leaders believe that the UAE represents the ‘gold standard’ in terms of regulation, compared to other jurisdictions globally. Interestingly, 97% of all of those surveyed believe the country to be either “extremely business friendly” or “somewhat business friendly”; this highlights the strength of the UAE’s regulatory framework overall.
