level of integration effort. This makes our Well Manager solution an ideal fit for multi-well pad applications. Modular and scalable, this solution helps ease integration with existing systems and other Rockwell Automation applications, including energy management and intelligent power integration. It also helps lower costs and cut installation time for improved lifecycle management.” The Well Manager solution is delivered preengineered to speed integration of a multi-well pad. It is scalable and can support up to 32 wells in one location with flow management, artificial lift control, and site-wide data visibility. Because data is pulled directly from the control system, it has higher integrity than operations that leverage manual data reporting. The solution is built with expansion in mind – ready to support wells and equipment that might be added to a site years after initial implementation. The solution also enables self-declaring wells to be automatically discovered and integrated into the production environment. This auto-discovery feature removes human interaction, reducing risk of error and dependencies on special skill sets. It also speeds the time it takes to bring a new well online to mere minutes, allowing producers to get valuable production data out of the well more quickly.
Traditionally, oil and gas companies built multi-well pads using different controls and locations throughout a single pad. The Rockwell Automation solution leverages just one controller for all well pad operations – including rod pumps and plunger lifts, electrical submersible pumps, progressing cavity pumps, natural flowing wells and more. Shifting all operations to one controller from a single vendor reduces maintenance costs, helps with revision control, and streamlines training and support. “Today’s modern, multi-well pads resemble small production facilities,” said Marcus Toffolo, global sales lead for Oil and Gas, Rockwell Automation. “As such, traditional approaches for well monitoring and control using RTU technologies have become cost prohibitive and require a high
The Well Manager solution is part of the broader ConnectedProduction offering from Rockwell Automation that can help connect all existing automation systems and intelligent field equipment from the wellhead and surface processing to custody transfer. Users can select specific solutions as needed, and monitor ROI to justify scaling up for broader usage. Each added segment of the solution is purpose-built for connectivity to help transform data into useful intelligence. The offering makes use of current investments, and does not require a complete infrastructure overhaul. The full ConnectedProduction offering including the Well Manager solution will be showcased and demonstrated using live customer examples at the upcoming Automation Fair event from Rockwell Automation on Nov. 15 and 16 in Houston.

opportunities. We will continue to strengthen our resilience to the changing energy landscape, while remaining focused on managing our unit cost and driving perfor-mance, profitability and efficiency across our business. “Furthermore, our intention to explore and appraise our unconventional resources, in collaboration with val-ue-add, strategic partners, reinforces ADNOC’s objective to further diversify our hydrocarbon assets base and enable value creation through vast untapped resources. We aim to unlock and deliver material and commercially viable production from Abu Dhabi’s unconventional resources by 2030, with a focus on gas and gas liquids,” H.E. Dr Al Jaber added. As it accelerates delivery of its 2030 strategy, ADNOC continues to optimize its Upstream operations and drive solutions to maximize recovery from its mature reservoirs, while seeking ways to cost effectively unlock the potential of untapped resources and leverage technology economies of scale to keep the operating cost per barrel at the most competitive level. It remains on track to expand oil production capacity to 3.5 million barrels a day by the end of 2018, and to improve drilling time by 30 per cent by 2019. Enhanced efficiencies have brought ADNOC’s leading low production cost down even further, a factor driving interest in the upcom-ing offshore concessions, which have attracted more than 14 potential partners from across the world. In gas, ADNOC is focused on ensuring a sustainable and economic supply of gas for the UAE’s growing de-mand. To help achieve this ADNOC will access undeveloped tight reservoirs, tap into its gas caps and expand sour gas production. In addition, it has commenced an exploration drilling programme to explore for, and appraise, the potential of individual gas deposits in tight reservoirs. ADNOC utilizes industry best practice, drives targeted technology application and will invest in the future development of untapped unconventional resources, over the next five years. ADNOC’s refreshed Downstream strategy focuses on additional value creation by pursuing two parallel paths. Domestically, ADNOC will leverage and optimize its existing assets, ensure fuel self-

sufficiency and diversify and grow its refining, gas processing and petrochemicals business portfolio. At the same time as expanding its UAE-based downstream operations it will pursue international downstream strategic and commercially viable investments, aimed at reshaping ADNOC into a global company, with an adaptable, resilient portfolio, that delivers maximum value to the shareholder and catalyzes the UAE economy. H.E. Dr Al Jaber said: “We will engage in strategic, long-term overseas investments across the downstream value chain. Acting alone, or in partnership with others, we will focus on investments that bring attractive re-turns, grow market access for our products and allow us to develop a truly international footprint.” ADNOC plans to secure additional captive crude processing capacity in growth markets, establish sector specific global businesses and enhance its global marketing activities, including introducing non-speculative asset-backed trading, to further stretch the dollar from every barrel of oil it produces. In support of its expanded 2030 strategy, ADNOC will grow its crude refining capacity by 60 per cent and more than triple its petrochemical production, to 14.4 mtpa by 2025 through a staged expansion plan aimed at initially optimizing its existing assets to grow and diversify its products portfolio. An aromatics project will convert naphtha, which is currently exported, into gasoline and aromatics and a large project to enhance the crude processing flexibility of its 900,000 bpd refining system will be taken forward. In chemicals, a new linear alkyl benzene project and a new mixed feed cracker, at Borouge, will enable new value chains to be created. These expansions will make Ruwais the largest integrated refining and chemicals site in the world. When complete ADNOC will convert almost one fifth of its crude to chemicals, diversifying its range of high value products to provide a natural hedge to oil price movements. Following their meeting, SPC members visited ADNOC’s Thammama sub surface collaboration centre, that uses advanced technology to enable the smart decision making necessary to optimize the organisation’s performance, drive efficiencies and rationalise costs, across the organisation.
The centre is integrated with ADNOC’s Panorama Digital Command Centre, which was inaugurated earlier this month by H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. Through Thammama, ADNOC is using smart analytics and is adopting Artificial Intelligence platforms to solve subsurface challenges and to help unlock more challenging resources and optimize field development plans, as well as reduce drilling time and manage production capacity across its operations. The center is equipped with smart data analytics to build dynamic models of the subsurface that help specialists develop a more detailed understanding of Abu Dhabi’s reservoirs to de-risk the opportunities they hold. It has the capability to monitor up to 120 live drilling sites simultaneously, comparing performance against historical wells, plans and benchmarks to reduce drilling costs, improve rig efficiencies, and increase productivity. The Panorama Command Center draws from a massive set of data points across ADNOC’s entire value chain; from the upstream to the downstream and global distribution network, visualizing it on a state of the art 50-meter wide video wall to provide a single access point to ADNOC’s real time performance. Using smart analytical models and leveraging cutting-edge AI platforms, it uses Big Data to generate new operational in-sights and recommend new, integrated pathways to optimize and enhance performance and create addition-al value. The center aggregates accurate, real time information from ADNOC’s operations and businesses, across the full oil and gas value chain, presenting data at a Group-wide level but also giving access to infor-mation from individual assets. The integrated centres are a key part of ADNOC’s organisation-wide digital transformation, which will help deliver a more profitable upstream; a more valuable downstream and an economic, sustainable gas supply. “As a critical part of shaping and securing the future of ADNOC, we will continue to invest in advanced tech-nology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), and data analytics, using Big Data. By leveraging and driving ADNOC’s digital transformation and integration we will
further maximize the value of our upstream and downstream operations,” H. E. Dr Al Jaber said. ADNOC is also investing in its people. It has introduced more robust development programmes, for women and youth, designed to provide greater on the job training and mobility opportunities. These programs are supported by a lifelong learning culture, providing a mix of hands on experience and coaching, in addition to structured training. With an eye to the future, it has created the ADNOC Future Leaders program, an elite program for the brightest and best employees, both men and women, who will ensure that ADNOC builds on its legacy of success and continues to be an integral part of the country’s economy and its prosperity. Through the program, ADNOC will provide its high performing young employees with the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to be successful at the highest levels of the organisation. Delivery of ADNOC’s expanded 2030 strategy builds on three important changes it has made to the way it operates. It has expanded its approach to partnerships, to capitalise on growth opportunities, enhanced its capital structure, to more smartly finance its business, and revised the way it manages its portfolio of assets, to drive performance and unlock lasting value. ADNOC recently confirmed plans to offer a minimum 10 percent stake, or 1.25 billion shares, and a maximum 20 percent stake, or 2.5 billion shares, in the partial IPO of ADNOC Distribution, its fuel distribution unit. An indicative price range of between AED 2.35 and AED 2.95 per share, has been set. At the top of the range, the IPO would be the largest in the UAE since DP World was floated, 10 years ago. The proposed ADNOC Distribution IPO, which will be the first time ADNOC has placed shares of one of its subsidiary companies onto the public markets, will offer both UAE and international investors the opportunity to invest alongside ADNOC in one of the region’s leading retail brands.

Tech Skills Every Millennial Engineer Should Know Knowing how to use technology is one thing, but learning how to use them efficiently is another. Other than the good old hard drives, there are already cloud systems that can back up your data for you. Just make sure to encrypt them with a strong password, especially if they contain important documents.
Know how to install an antivirus programs
Knowing how to use technology is one thing, but learning how to use them efficiently is another. For many, these skills may seem easy, but believe me there are a lot who lack them and as a result, they lose productivity at work. If you’re part of the latter group, then do your best to improve yourself. Here are the four main tech skills every millennial engineer should know.
Use the search engine in an advanced way While almost everyone knows how to search what they need in a search engine, it may be a good tip to learn how to use it in a more advanced way. Add quotation marks and the boolean operators OR, AND, and NOT. This will help you save a lot of time as well as remove the unwanted results from the beginning. Also make sure that as you scan through the search results, that you know how to distinguish a reliable resource from a bad one.
Back up your data Prevention is better than cure. You won’t know when your computer decides to crash or gets stolen. That is why it is important to back up all of your important files, photos or documents. 18

This skill is essential since you need to protect your computer from external attacks to be able to protect your data. As our world is getting more and more advanced in digital technology, it gets even harder to protect our privacy. That’s why we need to learn how to install and update our antivirus programs for our computers to be safe from anything malicious.
Access your office from anywhere If you’re an engineer who works remotely, then good for you, you have your work wherever you go. But if you work in an office and need to travel on a business trip, or need to work from home, it’s important that you can access all of your work files remotely from any location. Most offices nowadays have a virtual network where their employees can connect to wherever they are on the grid.

6 Skills That Engineers Should Invest on Learning They might be soft skills, but they pay off forever. n college, engineering students are trained to be technically proficient so they can do their respective jobs later on and build a career on them. Rarely do engineering schools train the students on soft skills, or those which do not require formal technical training, as such can only be learned through work experience and exposure to organizations. This is why on their first jobs, engineers should have a mindset that it is not only the technical or engineering stuff that needs to be focused on. The soft skills are just as important, even if they are difficult to learn. Here are seven of those skills which might be quite challenging to learn but definitely worthy as they pay off forever: 20

Knowing when to shut up To make suggestions and give comments is one thing, to talk mindlessly or without consideration is another. While it feels good to say what you want to say, engineers should also learn that not all receiving ends appreciate honest talks. Be mindful about the consequences of your words because it could create conflicts in your workplace.
Being emotionally intelligent We could never emphasize more how important emotional intelligence is for engineers. Perhaps equally important as the intelligence quotient, EQ affects how you manage behavior, navigate social
complexities and make personal decisions in and out of your job. The core of this skill is being able to recognize and understand emotions in yourself and others and your ability to use this awareness to manage your behavior and relationships.
Managing time It is important for engineers to be productive, deliver results, and beat deadlines. And the best way to do that is if you are able to manage your time effectively. Which tasks are the least and most important? Being able to prioritize is also a skill.
no, the more likely you are to experience stress, burnout, and even depression. This is considered a skill since it is often difficult to say no, especially to a higherup.
Getting high-quality sleep Even in college, engineering students do not get enough sleep. Bad news is that it carries over in the workplace, making it indeed a skill for engineers. Enough rest is required for engineers to perform peak performance at work. This is backed by science.
Saying no
Staying positive
An engineer who is a yes man or a woman can have its consequences. For one, studies show that the more difficult you have saying
Engineering is difficult work. Tough times bring out the worst in you, so it pays to keep that mindset of staying positive and motivated.

Losing Drive In Your Engineering Job? Ask Yourself These Questions Re-ignite your drive to push yourself forward or make a change?
There will be a point in our careers when we will need to stop and think about where we are, where we have been, why we are still here, and what lies ahead of us. It’s that point in time where you’re going to decide whether you need to reignite your drive to push yourself forward in your current career, or you need to make a change and find a new path. So what do we do when we get to this point in our careers? One of my mentors in the past taught me to ask myself a set of questions that I should ask myself every 6 months or whenever 26

I’m starting to ponder about my love for my career.
#1 Am I Continuously learning? Learning isn’t confined in the four corners of a classroom. One way to know if your career is healthy is when you know that your are continuously learning. Are you gaining new skills? Are you encouraged to attend seminars? Are you finding ways to improve your work? Or are you learning new things at work, but feel dissatisfied and want to learn something that is more
and passion in our work. This doesn’t necessarily mean you need to find a new job ASAP. It may mean you just need a breather like a vacation. Maybe you need a fresh project to work on, whether it’s a project at your company, or a personal project at home.
#5 Am I happy?
challenging? It’s important to know whether you are learning new things at your current career and if what you are learning is sufficient enough to make you a better professional.
#2 Am I growing? In any career, not just in engineering, career growth is one of the most important aspects that should be checked every now and then. Is the path clear for you to be able to get to the next level at your company? Are you being trained for leadership roles? Do you see a different department where you could use your skills more? Take note of the path you are taking. We all have different ways to interpret growth. There are people who see growth as climbing up the career ladder and become a boss or manager in their company, while there are others who want to find growth elsewhere– such as a different department or a different company or field.
#3 Is respect present? Never settle in a company that makes you feel degraded and unappreciated. Always choose to be in an organization where your opinion matters.
#4 Am I doing my best? There will be occasions wherein we will lose our drive
There is no perfect job. Even your dream job will have it’s consequences and difficulties, as a matter of fact, ALL jobs have their difficulties. That’s why, it’s always better to choose a job that is close to your passions. It will definitely have difficulties along the way, but all your hard work will be worth it because you know you’re working for what you love. It’s difficult to have a definite yes to all these questions, but if you have answered “no” to most of them, then it may be time to ponder if you need to take a new direction in your career.

Engineers Find a Way to Make Coffee as Replacement to Diesel Fuel It will soon be used in buses around London. Coffee is typically a drink that fuels our body to make us stay awake and alert. And now its grounds can be made as fuel to vehicles. Clean technology company Bio-bean has discovered a way on how to convert used coffee beans as replacement to diesel fuel. It partnered with Shell and Argent Energy to create the new biofuel which is partly coffee oil. “It’s a great example of what can be done when we start to reimagine waste as an untapped resource,” bio-bean founder Arthur Kay said. What’s amazing about the technology is the process of making the biofuel. After the used coffee grounds are collected from cafes, restaurants and factories, they are processed in a recycling facility and ends with a byproduct which is the coffee oil. This is then blended with other fats and oils to create a 20 per cent bio component, later mixed with mineral diesel to create a B20 biofuel. The final product can be used in diesel buses without modification, something that has never been done before. Spent coffee grounds are highly calorific and contain valuable compounds, making them an ideal feedstock from which to produce clean fuels,” the company noted in its website.
So far, Bio-bean has produced 6,000 liters of coffee oil for the pilot project with London’s transportation authority. That amount of biofuel is enough to help power the equivalent of one city bus for a year. London is among the first cities in the world to explore alternative fuels in its city buses. A transport group said that it has been turning to biofuels to curb carbon emissions. Bio-bean is a hundred percent behind this initiative, even when according to them there is “no formal agreement” yet to continue using its coffee oil in London. The company said on its Instagram page, “Biofuels are a smart use of waste and reduce CO2 emissions — and could provide a way to power our cities cleanly in the future.”
Women in Energy Conference Highlights Growing Role of Women in Oil and Gas Workforce 38
Oil & Gas Leaders
January 2018
The closing day of ADIPEC has put the spotlight on the growing importance of women in the oil and gas workforce, with industry role models leading the Women in Energy conference. Held as part of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), more than 200 delegates attended Women in Energy, offering a full day of discussions aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion within the global oil and gas industry. In the conference’s keynote address, former US ambassador to the UAE, and now president of the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington, Marcelle M. Wahba, said many industries continued to have a built-in bias that men were better suited to certain roles. “This is the glass ceiling that women contend with in male dominated professions or industries,” Wahba said. “When it comes to glass ceilings, I understand that there’s none tougher to crack than the one that women face in the oil and gas industry.” Women in Energy includes an emphasis on supporting a new generation of female professionals seeking careers in scientific or technical roles. Research by the Boston Consulting Group, for the World Petroleum Council, has found that fewer than a fifth of oil and gas workers are female. The disparity is particularly acute in offshore and marine, refining, and petrochemicals, in which women hold just 15 per cent of entry-level technical and field positions. By compar-ison, female graduates hold half of entry-level office and businesssupport positions. “While the number of women enrolling in the science and technology programmes at university level is very high, the number of women entering the STEM workforce is not accelerating at the same pace,” commented Wahba. “Some social stigmas and stereotyped gender roles persist, and those jobs are often viewed as more demanding
or more dangerous. That’s true not only in the UAE, it’s also true in other countries, in Europe and in the United States.” While noting that the glass ceiling is faced by women worldwide, Wahba added that it is cracking, and praised the UAE for its commitment to expanding the role of women in both business and government. “The UAE leadership has for decades championed women’s issues from education to employment, and eve-rything in between,” she said. “The progress is very visible, and also quite unique, not only for this part of the world, but globally. I believe the role of women in the UAE demonstrates the progressive vision of this society and its leaders.” Women in Energy provides a vital platform enabling women and men from many countries to meet, network and share experience. Held as part of ADIPEC, one of the world’s leading annual events for oil and gas pro-fessionals and decision makers, it is assured of high visibility across the industry. A full day of sessions focused on the contribution women are making in the industry, both in terms of how women can be further empowered towards achieving their career ambitions, and by offering space for women to share their own professional expertise with their peers. Speakers included women working at several international and local companies, including Petronas, Lukoil, Nova Chemicals and Tatweer Petroleum, sharing their knowledge and experience, and exploring strategies for promoting diversity across the board. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, host-ed by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and organised by the Global Energy division of dmg events, ADIPEC is one of the world’s leading oil and gas events, and the largest in Africa and the Middle East.

KPC AND SHELL SIGN a Long Term LNG SUPPLY DEAL Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and Shell International Trading Middle East Limited (Shell) have signed a supply agreement to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) into Kuwait for 15 years from 2020 to help meet the state’s growing energy demand. The state of Kuwait is embarking on an ambitious path of economic growth. This growth in energy demand needs cleaner burning energy sources such as natural gas, which will contribute to reduce emissions and improve local air quality. Whilst KPC is working towards increasing local natural gas production, there is a pressing requirement to secure imports of natural gas supplies in the meantime. This agreement reinforces the strong relationship between the parties and Shell’s commitment to KPC and Kuwait.

Will the Demand for Oil Grow in 2018? 42
Oil & Gas Leaders
January 2018
One of the most critical factors which affect the global status of the oil and gas industry is the decisions made by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). It is an intergovernmental body having 14 member countries from the original 5 in 1960, now controlling 61% of the world’s oil exports, holding 80% of the world’s proven oil reserves, and pumping 40% of world oil.
Even non-OPEC members but are oil giants adhere to the standards made by this organization. The largest private oil companies are often influenced. Now what does it say about the need for oil in the next year?

Demand for Oil in 2018 Monthly reports by OPEC since July this year revealed that the forecast for the 2018 oil demands is increasing. In October, it said that the world would need 33.06 million barrels per day (bpd) of its crude next year, up 230,000 bpd from its previous monthly forecast. But in November, OPEC predicted that the world would need 360,000 bpd more at 33.42 bpd. For four months, the group’s projection always showed an increase. According to OPEC, demand for their oil would rise mainly because of a stronger world economy. Their latest claim has been backed with a notable rise in oil prices. Also, a lot of economic uncertainty experienced this year has been weathered, which is probably why the group expects higher demand. Eleven out of the fourteen member countries in the OPEC contribute much to this high demand in crude, thanks to their compliance with the supply cuts which started at the end of 2016. The historic deal was meant to curb oil production in an effort to rebalance the market. And so it did. As Reuters calculated, output targets have
risen above 100% from 98% initially reported in September. “The high conformity levels of participating OPEC and non-OPEC producing countries ... have clearly played a key role in supporting stability in the oil market and placing it on a more sustainable path,” the report said. Moreover, experts say that the key oil market factor is what happens with OPEC’s extension agreement and whether the participating countries will comply in the production cuts. “US shale supply growth will also be a big deal. I’ll be watching what happens in Venezuela as well,” Capital Economics economist Thomas Pugh said. On the other hand, Ricard Torné, FocusEconomics’ head of economic research, said that global economic recovery and rising geopolitical tensions are also important factors to watch out for. He said that although the global economic outlook for 2018 appears to be healthy, there are some risks that could derail the ongoing positive trend. “A tighter monetary policy in the US, the possibility of a sharp slowdown in China and many important elections around the world (including in Brazil, Italy and Mexico) all threaten
to slow the global economic recovery and therefore impact demand for oil, TornÊ said. Meanwhile, it is predicted that oil prices are expected to remain at $50-55 in the next year. The OPEC report mentioned that a rise above that level would encourage U.S. oil producers to expand their drilling activities, otherwise the lower prices could lead to a reduction in their capex.
Not to be discounted is the emergence of electric-powered vehicles, which take away the need for petroleum in cars, ships, and soon, aircrafts.
Other Factors Affecting Oil Demand
For more than 30 years, the global oil demand has grown at an average rate of 1.1 million bpd amid the growing support for electricpowered vehicles as well as biofuels. But 2018 is an exciting year for the transportation sector, with rapid developments being made by private companies to promote sustainability and lower costs.
While it is true that growth in world population means increased oil consumption, many countries today are gearing towards the use of cleaner modes of energy including renewables. This current trend is expected to continue by 2018, as the world focuses on energy efficiency and fossil fuel alternatives.
This technology has a direct bearing in oil consumption as the transportation industry accounts to more than half of the global crude oil in consumption in 2012 according to a report by the International Energy Agency’s Key World Energy Statistics 2014.
Government policies, both in developed and developing countries, affect the evolution of energy markets, often used as mechanisms to stimulate change beyond purely market-driven forces. A radical shift in energy preferences as well as tax laws are critical factors that revolve around political decisions causing significant fluctuations in oil demands.
Will the demand for oil grow in 2018? A forecast by OPEC says yes. But as countries, both members and non-members of OPEC, are working together towards sustainability which mean lesser independence to fossil fuels, there is still uncertainty.

Strategies For Engineers Who Want To Gain New Skills They say to be able to excel in your career, it’s important to pick up new skills that can help you grow professionally.
They say to be able to excel in your career, it’s important to pick up new skills that can help you grow professionally. However, not many of us know where to start, so here are some strategies that can help you learn new skills.
Memory Tricks Engineers are naturally talented when it comes to creating memory tricks, it’s a skill we’ve all nurtured since engineering school. Use this skill when you are learning a new skill at work as well.
Accept Both Sides of The Coin When you are learning something new, it’s important to remember that you will need to accept not only the good sides of learning, but the bad sides as well. You will need to accept failure. You will need to be willing to have some sleepless nights. You will need to accept that it’s not going to be fast and easy. You will need to be resilient.
Practice This is where many people give up. Constant practice can be difficult, but it is needed for you to develop your new skill. There will be other people who are more talented than you are, and will be able to master the same skill in a shorter period, but that doesn’t mean you need to keep up with them. Run your own race and concentrate on your progress instead of other people’s. Soon, you’ll be able to master your new skill.
Find a Mentor One of the best ways to master a new skill is to find a mentor who can show you the ropes. It’s always better to have a mentor than learn it yourself because you will be able to learn the skill more than just its theory. You will also be able to learn the skill through your mentor’s experiences. These tips can also be applied in skills other than for professional purposes. Hopefully, these tips will be able to help you learn and master your chosen skill quickly. 48

How Engineers Can Balance Work With Their Passions While we love our jobs as engineers, we also have other passions that we want to give some of our time to.
A lot of people have different passions that aren’t related to their professions, such as art, dance, photography, music, etc. In an ideal world, our professional jobs and our passions would be one and the same. However, while we love our jobs as engineers, we also have other passions that we want to give some of our time to, and the problem lies there. Working full time as an engineer while trying to give time for your passions can be difficult to balance. So here are some tips on how you can balance work with your passions.
Be Strict With Your Schedule If you really want to balance your work and passion and you’re the type of person just chooses to “go with the flow”, then this is the time you should be strict with your schedule. The best way to balance any activity is to practice disciple. Make sure you set a time every week for finishing work (including a leeway for emergency overtime), so that you also have time for your passion.

your passion activity can really take its toll on you. So start slow. Schedule your passion activity only once a week for the first month, and slowly increase the frequency of your passion activities as time goes by. By doing so, you would lessen the possibility of physical and mental burnout.
Choose A Day Off You should have a day in the week wherein you will neither work nor do your passions. This will be your day for ultimate relaxation, pampering, resting, and recharging for the next week to come. While this is not entirely possible because of the demanding day jobs, do your best to schedule some days in a month for this.
Count Your Hours of Sleep No matter what your work and passion schedule is, always make sure you have enough sleep–that is 6-8 hours. Remember, if you are not able to recharge your body, you won’t be able to function properly throughout the next day. Prioritize your body, it will thank you.
