LOCAL ARTISTS SELECTED FOR NEW DIRECTIONS ‘15, AT BARRETT ART CENTER IN POUGHKEEPSIE, NY.
57 artworks were selected by distinguished juror Ms. Janet Bishop from nearly 700 nationwide entries, for display September 26 through October 31 at the Barrett Art Center for the thirty-
first annual New Directions exhibition. With 9 local artists among the 53 selected, the region is well-represented in this year’s accepted entries, demonstrating the wealth of creative talent within the Hudson Valley.
New Directions is a premier national exhibition of contemporary artwork celebrating innovative
creative expression through a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, photography,
textiles, and ceramics. The spirit of the show is a dramatic juxtaposition of cutting edge
artwork set in the galleries of Barrett’s 1830s Greek Revival townhouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Sites.
