Good day to the readers of this fine newspaper. My name is Giovanni D. Martello and I am a nearby neighbor in Bucks County. I write to you today requesting that you look into a man that I feel is the best candidate for President of the United States of America. That man is Gary Johnson. You may not have heard of Gary, or maybe you have only heard him in passing through a sound bite used by various media outlets. Regardless of what you’ve heard I believe you should take a close look at Gary, his VP pick Bill Weld, and the platform he is running. I believe that, like me, once you start looking at what he stands for, you will realize how much he is working for you and I to have personal freedom. If you are of the mindset that we have too much government involvement and that we should respect other people’s privacy and livelihood, there is no other candidate that will support both. Gary identifies as a fiscally conservative, socially liberal candidate in favor of a reduction in government spending and oversight, with a simultaneous increase in personal freedoms and liberties. He stood out for his fiscal policies when he served two terms as New Mexico’s Republican governor from 1995 to 2003. During this time he earned the nicknames “Governor Veto” and “Veto Johnson” for his use of gubernatorial veto and line-item veto powers more than the combined record of 49 other governors – 200 times in the first six months he was in office, and 750 times total. A 10% annual growth in the budget was cut in part due to his national and state record-setting veto activity. He is the only candidate that wants to reduce government spending. That should resonate with a lot of people who are concerned about our enormous national debt.

Despite his two terms as Governor, Gary Johnson still prefers to call himself an entrepreneur. To pay for college, he started a door-todoor handyman business. Twenty years later, the one-man-shop had grown into one of the largest construction companies in New Mexico, with more than 1,000 employees. As a businessman, Gary ran for Governor with no prior political resume other than his college political science degree and a passion for helping people. And although Gary considers himself to be libertarian-minded, he has always believed that good public policy should be based on a practical cost/benefit analysis, rather than strict ideology. If you were looking for a business man to balance our country’s budget, here is your best choice. If you look further into Gary’s campaign platform, you will find he supports the rights of every person in this country to make choices of their own without government interference. This stance covers everything from marriage rights to gun ownership. For those of you who are proud supporters of the 2nd amendment, you are safe with Gary. Before you vote on November 8th, please take a look at Gary Johnson and see his track record for fiscally conservative and socially inclusive views. Even if you disagree with some of his stances, know that you are voting for a man with integrity, a man who is honest, and a humble down to earth person who will admit when he is wrong even on national television. He is forthright without offense, a hard working and successful businessman, as well as totally free of scandal. Please vote your conscience and stand with us for integrity and honesty. Please give Gary a chance. Thank you. Sincerely, Giovanni D. Martello
