Apprentice Mechanical Fitter

Are you fascinated about how things are put together or ever wondered how different machines work? Do you find yourself spending time in the shed, pulling things apart to see how they work? If you have a natural eye for detail and are good with your hands, becoming a Mechanical Fitter Apprentice could be for you! Undertaking this four-year apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to become a qualified Mechanical Fitter and earn your Certificate III in Engineering

(Mechanical Trade) (MEM30219).

You will be trained to install new machinery, repair old machinery, and make parts. You will learn to operate heavy equipment like metal lathes and milling machines to manufacture and repair parts and read technical drawings to determine how to assemble equipment, find faults on running plant and fabricate to exact specifications. You will work on a range of mechanical plant and equipment including gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, valves, pipework, and turbines. Based at Loy Yang B Power Station, Victoria’s newest and most efficient coal-fired power station, you will work with an experienced and passionate team of people committed to helping you learn.
