Girlgoth:Who is Evilyn13 (and why Evilyn13)? Where are you from? Evilyn13: I am from Vancouver BC Canada and Evilyn is actually my middle name. As a kid my older brother would taunt me by calling me Evil-Lyn (like Skeletor’s girl friend from He-Man) and as a kid it bothered me, but as I got older I thought the name was pretty badass so I kept it. The thirteen signifies my love for occult and dark things, as the number thirteen has been considered an unlucky number, which I find kind of hilarious. Just because you don’t number a floor the thirteenth floor, doesn’t mean the thirteenth floor doesn’t exist. It just means you incorrectly numbered the floors in the building. I guess I find it funny that people are so superstitious about a number so I decided to adopt it, and also scaring people is fun. Girlgoth:What you do in life? music, DJ, etc... Evilyn13: I am model and DJ. I currently have three DJ residencies, I DJ two monthly events, Sin City Fetish Night and Madhaus which is an alternative night, and I also DJ a weekly burlesque show called Kitty Nights. I have also DJ’d the Vancouver Tattoo Show the last two years and the pool party in Florida at Fetish Factory’s anniversary party and of
course Vancouver Fetish Weekend. I love music, so its really fun to play it at events, and its also a great way to pick up chicks. Just kidding.... sort of... haha! I mean I kind of have the best job ever right? I get paid to play music while ladies take their clothes off and at fetish parties dance topless (no pasties required in Vancouver!) all while I drink my rum and coke. Its a rough life I tells ya! I model as well, so I do fetish and latex stuff and also pinup fluffy cute stuff, and I like to mix everything together and do cosplay. So you probably won’t find me making replicas of costumes but you will find me donning a latex Harely Quinn catsuit which is both fetish and cosplay. I kinda like bastardizing characters to make them my own. I feel like anyone can make a replica of something if they try hard enough, but making something unique takes a bit more creativity and skill. I’m not trying to say that true cosplayers aren’t amazing - because they are, I just find I am personally more excited about people who get creative with their costumes and do something original. Girlgoth: Vancouver Fetish Weekend - Can you tell people more about event, and also, about Evilyn13 rolle in it?

Evilyn13: Vancouver Fetish Weekend is a three-day event in July where we put on three big kinky parties and bring in a few fashion designers and performers from out of town to showcase how sexy our city is. We have had performers such as Rubberdoll, Shokra, Mosh, Perish and Jean Bardot perform for us and designers such as Deadly Couture, Hypershine, Andromeda Latex, Cinched Tight Corsets, and Salient Seven. My role is to help organize the fashion shows on Saturday, so I round up all the models for the designers and make sure the party runs smoothly backstage while also hosting red carpet interviews in the early evening. Its a lot of work, but I love watching everyone strut the runways and work the fashions, and I love that we have both men and women of all body types to do that for us. On Sunday I DJ the fetish cruise which is probably everyone’s favourite part of the weekend (not because I am DJing but because its a giant play party on a boat). The cruise is pretty naughty and its lovely to engage in some kinky behaviour while setting sail on the lovely waters of the Pacific since we have such a beautiful skyline with trees and mountains surrounding us. The boat has three levels, one for dancing, one for playing and a top
outside deck so you can enjoy the scenery. The first year we did it, I was really hard on myself because nobody was really dancing, but when I traded off with another DJ I went upstairs and realized there were two girls playing (one with a strap-on) which had generated quite the crowd, so I realized I probably couldn’t compete with that. The cruise docks just as the sun sets too, so you get that nice romantic red and purple sky which usually matches the bruises you walk away with on your behind if you’ve had a good time on the boat. Girlgoth:Sin City Fetish Night - You work as DJ - What is Sin City Fetish night, what we can expect, and what we can expect from you as DJ? Evilyn13:Sin City Fetish Night is our monthly fetish party where we have 2 rooms of dancing and also a play dungeon and a suspension frame for those who like to be tied up and suspended. We have a photo booth set up as well so that those who want to document the night have the option to do so without people who prefer to remain anonymous feeling exposed. I DJ in the main room and I play a mix of electronic and rock with a few gay anthems thrown in for good measure. I play a lot more alternative and industrial electro when I DJ
at Madhaus where I can throw down a few more old school punk tracks and at Kitty Nights I play more 80â&#x20AC;&#x2122;s/90â&#x20AC;&#x2122;s friendly stuff since it is a more mixed crowd. Girlgoth:Something more about fetish/ alternative scene in Canada - your opinion Evilyn13: Our fetish scene in Vancouver is quite small compared to other cities, but what we lack in quantity we make up for in quality. I find the people in our little fetish scene to be amazing. I have made so many friends at the fetish parties here because the energy and love is so genuine. Ever-
yone I have met is so kind and easy to talk to and just out for a night of good old fashioned fun. Its really amazing to just take a step back and watch how the people who come to our events have created such a cool scene, because really all we are doing is providing the shell of the event. The people who come to the event are really what set it apart and make it special. Girlgoth:Your private life - favorite food, free time... movies... What you like, and what is your ideal day Evilyn13: I work all the time so free time is a luxury if I have it. I like to play video games when I can, the hard 9
part is when I get sucked into a game and then I don’t have time to play it for a whole month because of work and then I can’t remember where I am in the game. I like to spend time with my little pooch Bruno, he is a Boston Terrier and he smells really bad. If you are familiar with the breed, you know what I am talkin’ about. I love eating, sometimes
its hard for me to stay fit because all I want to do is eat chips and salsa and licorice. I am not even allowed to open a bag of Nibs licorice because I will eat the whole thing and get a stomach ache. I don’t think I ever learned how to ration food properly. Girlgoth: Evilyn13 in future? Evilyn13:I could just sit here and drown in this bowl of salsa - which I kinda think would be the best way for me to die because I love salsa!

KorpiFjellet, meaning “Ravens in mountains” in Swedish and Norwegian, is a one-woman blackened symphonic metal band by Mia Raven from Alberta, Canada featuring various guest musicians. She has self-produced three albums on Stillborntwins Records, the first under Mia Raven before forming KorpiFjellet. She has studied classical voice and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in piano with a music technology minor.
