For Beginners and Expert Campers Alike! Amahami Adventure Center is in Deposit, NY, in the foothills of the Catskill Mountain region. Amahami offers all campers the opportunity to expand their knowledge, confidence and comfort in nature through an immersive outdoor experience. The property features miles upon miles of hiking trails, including one to Amahami’s very own fire tower! Amahami is located on a small private lake. Campers may spend the week sleeping in a troop house, cabin or platform tent. What are daily activities? At Amahami, each camper enrolled in Classic Camp gets the opportunity to participate in her choice of four core program areas each day, for an hour block each. In addition to Classic Camp activities, limited space is available for C/S/A level in our Explorer add-on program (at an additional cost). Campers will also spend an hour and a half with their unit (the girls they live with) each day, deciding as a group what additional activities they’d like to do in addition to daily activities! Each evening, campers participate in an all-camp program full of fun, community and laughter! Take part in our opening and closing campfires, go for a dip during the all-camp twilight swim, play Capture the Flag, participate in a Counselor Hunt and more! Meals are served family-style in the main lodge, except for Wednesday night’s allcamp cook-out. New this year: the all-camp sleep-out night!

Arts and Crafts Get in touch with your creative side! Each week, our arts and crafts programming is inspired by the camp week’s theme. At Amahami, we offer painting, drawing, pottery, classic camp crafts, nature art and woodworking opportunities for older girls!

Sports and Recreation Girl-led programming, collaborative decision-making and practicing good sportsmanship! Girls work with staff during their first day to plan each session for the week, choosing from a variety of dynamic offerings, such as gaga ball, yoyo-ing, ultimate Frisbee, kickball, field games, soccer, water games and more!

Music Percussion Experiment with rhythm and sounds as you learn the basics of percussion using clapping, tapping, drums and handheld instruments, playing games and jamming along to your favorite songs. Put your skills together at the end of the week and perform at Thursday’s closing campfire.

Campers learn the basics of this special stringed instrument, practicing their strumming technique and learning basic chords. Depending on the skill of the group, campers may even begin to learn to read ukulele tabs (tablature) and prepare a song to perform at Thursday’s closing campfire

Campers spend the week learning about different styles of dance, such as ballet, jazz, musical theater and more. Experienced instructors guide the girls through choreographing their own special dance to perform at Thursday’s closing campfire.

Bullseye! With the help of trained instructors, campers experiment with various bows, work on shooting technique and take aim at all kinds of targets.

Boating

Work with fellow campers to prepare a short performance to show off at closing campfire on Thursday night. Whether it involves improvisation, writing your own skit or vocal performance, it’s time to take the stage!

Along the shores of Lake Waletka, campers learn safe practices and techniques on how to navigate canoes, kayaks and rowboats!

Waterfront

Aquatics Campers participate in a unique blend of learning and free play at our swim area. Campers spend a half-hour 7


participating in a mix of stroke development, water safety, junior lifesaving skills, games and competitions. The other half of the hour block is spent enjoying free swim with your camp friends!

Outdoor Education Nature & STEM Take a deeper look into the world around you as we explore camp’s natural surroundings! Learn about the trees, animals, rocks and landmarks that make Amahami unique. Bring home a better understanding of the natural and scientific world!

Hiking Much more than a walk in the woods! Learn the basics of working with a map and compass, work on Amahami’s letterboxing course, learn the principles of Leave No Trace and explore various on-site trails.

Fishing Try your hand at casting into Lake Waletka! Learn to identify different species of fish that live in the lake, how to bait a hook and practice proper casting techniques.

Outdoor Living Skills Looking to bring your outdoor skills to the next level? Try a new outdoor cooking recipe, learn about shelter building in wilderness survival or make your own swing set using only knots and lashings!

Explorers Ready to put your outdoor skills to the test? Join the Explorers! Explorers spend one block each day working on learning trip skills, such as map reading, how to cook over a camp stove and how to pack for a primitive camping trip. On Wednesday afternoon, Explorers backpack out into the backwoods of Amahami for a one-night primitive camping experience. Participants return to camp on Thursday with enough time to participate in all their activities All backpacking equipment is provided, or you can bring your own! Available for C/S/A. Add-on price: $50

Off-Camp Trips Catskills Teaser Spend 3 days, 2 nights exploring the Catskills! On day one, learn rock-climbing basics along Shawangunk Ridge (“The Gunks”), one of America’s premier climbing destinations. The other two days will be spent hiking a high peak and canoeing on one of the many reservoirs of the region. Girls spend nights camping at local campgrounds. Campers will not participate in a typical camp week schedule. Available to C/S/A only. Trip price: $500

Upward Bound Spend 3 days, 2 nights backpacking through the Catskills region. Spend the first day at camp learning how to prep and plan for the experience, then put your skills to the test out in the wilderness! Learn teamwork and outdoor skills as you experience the great beauty of the mountains. Participants should have at least one year of camping experience. Available to C/S/A only. Trip price: $500

An Authentic Finger Lakes Experience! Comstock Adventure Center in Ithaca, NY, is located along the shores of Cayuga Lake. Campers enjoy the unique natural surroundings created by the Finger Lakes while living in beautiful tree-top cabin village units. Comstock features nearly two miles of lakefront, offering a wide variety of water sports and a beautiful location to enjoy the sunrise or sunset. Comstock’s proximity to a variety of popular local destinations allows for many off-camp experiences for campers. What are daily activities? Sailing I Get the basics under your belt as you participate in a doubleblock of sailing each day. Spend two hours learning how to rig a sunfish sailboat and tie various knots, how to safely right a capsized vessel and spending time on the water experimenting with basics of steering and controlling the sail. Available for J/C/S/A. Add on price: $25

Sailing II NEW! Pre-requisite: must have participated in sailing at Comstock in a prior summer, or have experience with sailing from another formal setting. Take your sailing knowledge to the next level! Campers will spend every day, all day (four hours) at the waterfront. Learn more advanced techniques for navigating a small sailboat, play games using the sailboats and take a few breaks from sailing for paddling and swimming. Available for C/S/A. Add on price: $25

Boating Paddling Along the shores of Cayuga Lake, campers learn safe practices, paddling techniques and how to navigate boating options, including canoes, funyaks, corcls (circular boats), and for older campers, stand up paddleboards!

Participants return to camp on Thursday with enough time to participate in all their other activities. Campers who would like to become Voyagers should have some experience in a canoe, and feel comfortable being in water over their head while wearing a PFD. Available for C/S/A. Add on price: $50

Banana Boating End your week of camp on Friday morning with an exciting ride on the banana boat out on Cayuga Lake! Campers must feel comfortable in deep water to participate in this experience. Available for all age levels. Add on price: $10

Voyagers NEW! Ready to put your waterfront skills to the test? Join the Voyagers! Spend one block each day perfecting paddling techniques and preparing and packing for a canoe trip experience. On Wednesday afternoon, Voyagers will set off in their canoes across Cayuga Lake, where they will create a campsite for the night and cook meals over the campfire.

Participate in two classic camp activities each morning before traveling to the ranch for three hours of riding and learning all about the horses. Available for J/C/S/A. Add on price: $150

Trail Ride Tuesdays

Spend each morning traveling off-camp to take in amazing sights of the Ithaca area. Explore a new and different location each day, stops include the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Ithaca Children’s Garden, the Museum of the Earth and the Cornell Botanical Gardens. Return to camp in time for lunch and two afternoon activities! Available for Juniors. Add on price: $50

Enjoy the full week-long camp experience along with a horseback riding add-on! Trail Riders enjoy classic camp all week, and leave camp after dinner on Tuesday for a special hour-long trail ride through Finger Lakes National Forest. Available for all ages. Add on price: $35

TREFOIL ADVENTURE CENTER

Open House: Harrisville, NY Sunday, May 13, 2018 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.


The Ultimate Outdoor Adventure! Trefoil Adventure Center is in Harrisville, NY, located on the outskirts of gorgeous Adirondack Park. Campers get the ultimate high adventure and wilderness experience while spending a week in an intimate, outdoorsy setting. Trefoil features GSNYPENN’s only high and low ropes course! With its proximity to Adirondack Park, Trefoil is a great location for any camper looking to explore the outdoors! Most campers spend their week sleeping in a-frame units, or our famous yurt! During the afternoon, girls choose some of their own individual activities and rotate with their unit for the rest of the afternoon. Meals are served family-style in the main lodge, except for Wednesday night, which is all-camp cook-out night. All campers also participate in an all-camp sleep out in the main field under the night sky! Each evening, campers participate in an all-camp program full of fun, community and laughter! Campers end each evening with a campfire with their unit (a grouping of similar aged campers). During unit time, campers head to archery, ropes course and whatever other activities they choose to take part in as a unit. Campers that choose to participate in Classic Camp at Trefoil can participate in a variety of activities with their unit! In addition to classic camp activities, limited space is available in various add-on experiences at an additional cost.

Low and High Ropes It’s “challenge by choice” at the ropes course! Choose from a variety of high ropes elements as you swing among the trees, or practice teamwork and trust as you work together to overcome different low elements. End your week with an exciting ride down the zip-line!

Field Games Choose from a variety of dynamic offerings, such as gaga ball, teambuilding and more!

Archery Bullseye! With the help of trained instructors, campers experiment with various bows, work on shooting technique and take aim at all kinds of targets.

Along the shores of Snyder Lake, learn safe practices, paddling and rowing techniques and how to navigate our boating options - including canoes, kayaks and rowboats!

Swimming Take advantage of our beautiful, private lake and enjoy a dip! Cool off from the summer heat, or play games with your new friends.

Iceberg Challenge yourself on this unique water-based element! Our super awesome iceberg floats in the middle of Snyder Lake. Climb up one side of this element and slide down the other for the ultimate thrill!

Outdoor Education Hiking Trefoil has a variety of trails for campers of all ages. Head out as you learn about plant life and look for signs of camp wildlife! 19

Try your hand at casting into Snyder Lake! Learn how to bait a hook and practice proper casting techniques. Maybe you’ll even get a bite!

A great way to expand your outdoor skills! Campers participate in two off-camp day trips over the course of the camp week. Go hiking and explore some local waterfalls! Available to Juniors. Trip price: $425

Outdoor Cooking Explore campfire building, various campfire cooking techniques and eat your creations as you enjoy a cook-out with the other girls in your unit!

Off-Camp Programs CR-ADK Teaser Spend 3 days, 2 nights exploring all that the Cranberry Lake region has to offer! Immerse yourself in the wild Adirondack Park, spend one day at the Wild Center near Tupper Lake and spend two days paddling and hiking. Nights will be spent camping at a local campground. Campers will not participate in a typical camp week schedule. Available to Cadettes. Trip price: $500

Wild Center Ever dress up like a flying squirrel, or climb on a life-sized spider’s web? Here’s your chance! A Camp For All! Hoover Adventure Center is in the heart of Central New York, located along the shores of Song Lake in Tully. Hoover is home to the region’s only Day Camp experience, offering the perfect opportunity for any camper looking to get their feet wet and explore what camp has to offer. Hoover’s unique, flat setting, with ample field space allows for a variety of fun summer time activities, such as field games, sports and exploring the many hiking trails on site. Hoover features two rustic cabin units and two platform tent units, for any camper who may choose to challenge themselves with an add-on overnight experience. Hoover’s Classic Camp program is offered for Brownies through Cadettes. Our camp week runs Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There’s a different camp-wide theme each week, and campers are invited to join the fun by bringing a costume or props from home! Campers participate in daily activities with other campers in their age group, and can sign up for an add-on overnight on Thursday. The third week of camp will be run in conjunction with the Syracuse Department of Parks and Recreation and will be an opportunity for both girls and boys ages 7-12. Need transportation to camp? No problem! Check out our bus schedule available online. Busing is an additional cost of $40 per camper per week. Bus stops will be available from the north (Syracuse) and south (Cortland), and spaces are limited.
