Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways, Inc.

More than 100 years ago, Girl Scouts Founder Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low was the original G.I.R.L. The ultimate Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, and Leader.™ Daisy not only envisioned an organization that would inspire girls to pursue personal growth, but she made that dream a reality for millions around the world through her passion and dedication to the movement she started.

We’ve been taking time to observe, listen, and learn, in order to make the Volunteer Experience as rich as the Girl Experience. To that end, we implemented Volunteer Systems, debuted the Volunteer Toolkit (which provides troops an online communications system to help organize activities), and added a new way to renew membership using the MY GS Member community.

We launched a new website. We went live with a new Customer Engagement Initiative. We held our first-ever Cookie Wow convention to kick off the 2016 Cookie Program. We revitalized the Girls’ Advisory Board, to provide older girls with a voice on operations, programs, and policies in support of our Council’s strategic goals. We’ve made improvements to our Adventure Centers. Like Daisy, our Council is focused on using our collective passion and dedication to the Girl Scout Movement to best serve our girls. We could not do this without the continued support of our members, donors, and partners. I’m proud of all that we have accomplished over the past year, as we continue to offer every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.

2016 was a year of great growth and change throughout our Council. In addition to my appointment as CEO, we welcomed new COO MaryAnn Stark, and several other new staff members to complete teams—including a brand new Customer Care department and filling positions in Outdoor Programs, which helped us increase our summer camp attendees. We have, and will continue to, review staffing and programming to best support our members and improve upon Council operations.

Your Donations Make A Difference Your support stays local to GSNYPENN and has a direct impact on the lives of girls and adults across our Council region in both Central New York and Northern Pennsylvania. We are deeply appreciative of the annual support our Council receives from corporations, foundations, individuals, community chests, and the United Way.

TM

2,679

Last year, 2,679 girls who might not have had the means to join Girl Scouts had their annual membership dues paid for because of your generosity. Through your support, we also provided assistance to help 108 adult volunteers lead troops— because you cared enough to give to GSNYPENN. For over a century, Girl Scouts have proudly worn uniforms that identify them as members of this distinctive leadership organization. Thanks to your gifts, 220 girls applied for assistance and received items such as their Start Up Kit, Guide to Girl Scouting, tunics, sashes, and vests from our Council. Girl Scouts and camping go together like chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers! Girls make memories that last a lifetime when they attend programs at our Adventure Centers. In 2016, your donations provided 254 camperships. Just imagine all of the friendships, memories, and laughter created because you gave girls the gift of camp! Camp CEO, held at our Comstock Adventure Center, was made possible through grants and in-kind donations from Triad Foundation, Community Foundation for South Central New York, Women’s Fund of CNY, Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, SRCTec, Inc., Community Bank NA, and Coburn Design. At Camp CEO, eight prominent business women shared life lessons and leadership journeys with 38 of our girls. This special time involved one-on-one coaching, team building, and a healthy dose of traditional camp activities (including canoeing, crafts, and archery) as female executives discussed their career journeys and imparted impactful life lessons through pearls of wisdom shared with our Girl Scouts—many of whom attended the program on scholarships provided by Council thanks to your support.
