Event and Program Etiquette GSNYPENN offers council-sponsored programs and events for troops and girls. These events bring together girls from across our 26-county region to enjoy an opportunity that they might not be able to create on their own. Please note that each event has a registration deadline and that some events may fill before this date. You may register online at www.gsnypenn.org. (Please refer to this guide’s “How to Register” page for complete registration process and information.) ⏵⏵ Have the girls plan. Show them this program guide or visit the “Programs & Events” tab on our homepage, www.gsnypenn.org. ⏵⏵ Let girls and their families know that individual girls with an adult may attend most all events. ⏵⏵ Questions about registering should be directed to Customer Care at 1.800.943.4414 or program@gsnypenn.org.
How to Register for Programs, Events and Trainings Registration
Registration Confirmation
Refund Policy
All programs require registration. Events may fill up quickly before the deadline. Early registration helps assure your place and allows the program facilitator adequate time to prepare for the number of participants. Size is limited by the facility and number of facilitators. For these reasons, once the maximum has been met, additional participants cannot be added.
Upon completing registration through eBiz, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive confirmation, contact Customer Care at info@gsnypenn.org.
Full refunds are given if GSNYPENN cancels a council-run program or event. Troops, groups or individuals will be notified as soon as possible when a decision is made.
Cancellations
Payments or deposit fees for all council programs and events are non-refundable, unless council cancels the event or the registering person/group cancels PRIOR to the registration deadline.
Listing of Programs, Events and Trainings 1. Check out the offerings in this booklet. 2. Visit our website at www.gsnypenn.org. 3. Click the “Programs & Events” tab on the homepage. 4. Events are listed in chronological order. 5. Once you find the event you want to attend, click “Register Now”. 6. If the event is council-run, you will be redirected to register on eBiz. 7. If the event is not council-run, you will be redirected to the proper registration method (email, website, etc.).
Registering Through eBiz
4
1. Enter your login name and password under “Current Member Login”. 2. If you need an eBiz account created or reset, please contact Customer Care at 1.800.943.4414 (select option 2) or email program@gsnypenn.org. You will receive an email with account information, please allow 1-2 business days. 3. Follow the prompts to complete the registration process.
By Troop or Individual: Email info@gsnypenn.org as soon as possible, preferably prior to the registration deadline. Include your name, names of all registrants needing to cancel, Troop/Service Unit #, event name and date, and details of cancellation. Please see refund policy on page 5. By GSNYPENN: We do our best to not cancel events, however sometimes we need to do so. If extreme weather occurs, a facilitator is ill, or an event does not fill to the minimum number of participants, we may cancel. We will contact you ASAP in the case of a cancellation. If you are unable to attend an alternate date, or if no alternate date is given, a refund will be issued in full. Please see refund policy on page 5.
Cancellations made after the registration deadline will not receive a refund, unless the cancellation is due to a medical reason. A request for refund with a doctor’s excuse must be received within 2 weeks of the cancellation or event date.
Tag-a-longs & Siblings Unless otherwise indicated in the event description and registration information, due to space and safety reasons please do not bring siblings or non-Girl Scouts. Bring only those you registered for an event. Do not assume that “there will be room for one more person.” Please refer to council policies (available on our website) for more information. Financial Assistance Financial assistance may be available for girls attending council-sponsored programs and events. Access the request for financial assistance at www.gsnypenn.org via the “Forms” page.
⏵⏵ Please register on time; be aware of deadlines. Nothing is sadder than cancelling an event due to low participant numbers and then having people ask if they can still register. Please also understand that sometimes events fill before the deadline. Early registration is always recommended. ⏵⏵ If you have special needs or specific questions about event programming, contact program@gsnypenn.org. Please be aware that programming often isn’t fine-tuned until the registration deadline, when we know how many girls to expect. ⏵⏵ Bring only those who registered for an event to an event. Some sites are very limited in space. Please don’t assume we can just “add one more.” ⏵⏵ Be prepared. Be sure to have directions to the site and plan on arriving in time to walk to check-in. Double check that you have what you need for the day (attire, lunch, etc.) ⏵⏵ Adults: It’s great to meet and network! If you’d like to have conversations, ask the facilitator if it’s OK if you step out of the room, go for a walk, etc. Conversations are distracting at an event, so in most cases the answer will be, “Yes, please!” ⏵⏵ Whether it is a GSNYPENN staff member, volunteer or community partner, whomever is facilitating the program loves sharing their skills and experiences with the girls, and puts a lot of effort into what they do. Please remind girls that a “thank you” goes a long way and is always appreciated.

FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) aims to inspire girls to become science and technology leaders. This mentor-based program, led by adult volunteer coaches and mentors, helps girls work together to design and build a robot and program it to do various tasks. At the younger levels, girls also research a topic based on the challenge and create a presentation about their research and innovative solutions. Teams then compete at regional tournaments.
We are offering 1 level of robotics for our girls: FIRST® LEGO League (FLL) for ages 9-14!
VOLUNTEER TO BE A COACH OR MENTOR! As a coach or mentor, you will guide girls through the challenges of the FIRST robotics program and celebrate their success in their STEM journey. Previous STEM skills or knowledge are not required; however, you must be willing to acquire basic knowledge of the programming environment and LEGO robot building or to recruit others with this specific knowledge.

WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF
The Girl Scout Mission Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
The Girl Scout Promise On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
The Girl Scout Law I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout.
