#GirlScoutsRV

Thank you for coming together for Girl Scouts’ virtual 2021 Celebrate Changemakers event. Tonight, we are raising philanthropic support for Girl Scouts River Valleys and the 26,000 girl leaders we support. Because of generous gifts made from a group of donors, our Board of Directors, and previous Women of Distinction and Centennial honorees, your gift tonight will have TRIPLE the impact toward reaching our fundraising goal of $360,000. During a year of crisis, girls needed Girl Scouts more than ever. We showed up for them with virtual programs, spaces to process racial injustice, and financial assistance to participate in Girl Scouts during this difficult time. While many things changed this year, the Girl Scout impact didn’t—and that is thanks to gifts like the ones you make at Celebrate Changemakers. Join us tonight in supporting Girl Scouts, celebrating our Changemaker honorees who are making the world a better place, and recognizing our resilience and accomplishments as a Girl Scout community. In a world that is always changing, Girl Scouts are the changemakers. Together in Girl Scouting,

Tish Bolger Girl Scouts River Valleys Chief Operating Officer

Girl Scouts River Valleys’ Celebrate Changemakers signature fundraising event raises critical funds for Girl Scouts River Valleys and the Girl Scout Movement. Investing in girls is an investment in Changemakers. By coming together to raise $360,000 we are supporting the success of individuals and our community. We can do this with your help!

$360,000 will support tens of thousands of Changemakers by providing... ► STEM programs to nearly 20,000 girls around our region with life-changing, hands-on, all-girl experiences. ► Leadership opportunities that support girls’ lifetime of success, including the Girl Scout Gold Award, where girls channel their leadership and passion to develop innovative solutions to society’s most pressing challenges. ► Volunteers with training and support to build girls of courage, confidence, and character— Changemakers. Volunteers serve as role models, introduce girls to new experiences, and help girls realize their dreams. ► Financial assistance to 1 in 5 girls, ensuring that a family’s financial situation is never a barrier to becoming a Changemaker!

$360,000 fuels the best leadership development experience for girls in the world. Girl Scouts are the girl experts and with over 100 years of experience, we will continue to empower every girl to lead in their world. Thank you for investing in girls. Thank you for being a part of Celebrate Changemakers, for being a part of Girl Scouts, and for being a part of the leadership journey of our 26,000 Girl Scouts.

Honorees M ADDY DI E T Z

2021 Changemaker Award Honoree

Maddy Dietz is a senior at Interlochen Arts Academy, and is a Girl Scout Juliette and GSRV Press Corps founder. She moved to Minnesota from Texas and took an active role at Girl Scouts River Valleys right away. Maddy is on the Girl Leadership Board and a Gold Award recipient, and now uses the curriculum she wrote for her Gold Award to teach creative writing workshops. She is a nationally recognized poet, an avid writer, and is passionate about equity in creative education. Maddy believes that a Changemaker will listen and consider other people while making change. If they’re trying to make change in a vacuum, they’re only making change for themself. It’s vital to include other people in the work they do. She also believes a Changemaker is brave, trying things even if they’re 95 percent certain it won’t work out and making room for that five percent chance.

M AY X I O N G

2021 Changemaker Award Honoree

May Xiong is a senior at Roseville Area High School and has been in Girl Scouts since her eighth-grade year. She is the president of her school’s Hmong Club, Peb Haiv, and is a leader in the school’s Asian Cultural Show as well. May leads by example and believes in being an advocate for all. She recently testified in front of Minnesota legislators for the Girl Scout Bill because she believes that Girl Scouts should be accessible to every girl. May’s definition of a Changemaker is confident, dependable, honest, and strong. They are willing to learn, want change, and they are open to self-growth and criticism. They use the joy they receive to spread to others; they share out of kindness. Most importantly they make sure to listen to everyone and use their voice to express and advocate for those who can’t.
