Dear Campers and Caregivers:
Camp is calling! It is that wonderful time of the year when you read through the Girl Scout camp guide and dream about all the wonderful opportunities that are available to explore in the great outdoors. Whether you choose day or overnight camp, adventure awaits! It is critical to get our girls outdoors. We have to give them opportunities to unplug and interact with other girls. Camp is the place where girls discover who they are, connect with others, and take action as they challenge themselves. Girl Scout camp builds outdoor competence through showing girls how to safely and responsibly explore the outdoors. Camp builds outdoor interest— instilling in them a love of nature and the natural world. Through the camp experience, girls build confidence as they take risks and try new things. Camp is also the place where girls learn environmental stewardship and realize how important it is to protect our natural world. The importance of these four outcomes is farther reaching than you might think. Outdoor interest and confidence lay the foundation for a life of outdoor engagement. Spending time in the tranquility of nature has well-established implications for a person’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical health, as well as the formation of values. I urge you to read through the camp guide with your girl and let her lead the way as she chooses the outdoor journey she wants to experience this summer. Her time at camp will be one of the foundational building blocks of her young life. I hear from so many girls (young and old) how camp changed their life. I look forward to seeing you and your girl at Camp Hacienda or Camp Whispering Pines! On My Honor, Debbie Rich Your Girl Scout Chief
Ring, ring! Camp is calling! What are you waiting for?! The experiences and friendships your girl makes at camp will last a lifetime. Camp helps your girl realize her true calling. Our trained and caring staff members support girls ages 5-17 in discovering who they are and what they can become. Our engaging programs and activities are designed with girls’ interests in mind so they can grow their passions and take healthy risks in a safe and supportive environment. OUR CAMPERS...
