The clock, handmade and reproducible by anyone, is designed for the more forgetful but also for those who, overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of everyday life, prefer to delegate the memorization of a thousand and one activities that occupy our days to a ‘trusted object’. Casting a glance on the clock, you can instantly see the commitments made during the day, hanging to the iron eyelets that indicate the hours and the reminders of appointment’s that we have ahead.

How to give a second life to the rings of the used binder that you are going to throw away? I turned them into a jewel holder, a towel rack and an umbrella stand.

After reading Lewis Carroll’s book, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, I chose an episode of the story and represented it using only three sheets of white polypropylene. All elements had been designed to change from flat 2D to 3D shapes without the use of any glue; rather only with the study and design of joints and hooks.

1 ZOE is a vase holder made completely of felt. The brief of the project was to create any kind of product starting from any material. The objective was, through researching and studying the chosen material, to design something that took best advantage of the material’s characteristics. Felt is a permeable, hygroscopic, porous, absorbent, elastic, insulating and resistant material. Therefore, I decided to use its abilities to absorb humidity without dripping excess water and to slowly release back this absorbed water to realize, after learning how to make the material, a pot that can be watered and that can feed the plant itself. Felt’s property to be flexible permits easy distribution in shops and houses.

The project stems from a reflection on the theme of the nest, from which I have designed and produced a methacrylate object. “Link” is closely related to the concept of the nest as “home”. It is in fact a map that holds a series of necklaces: every time a member of the household is away from the “nest” for long periods, he or she can carry one of these pendants. Thus, he or she will always be emotionally and physically connected to home.

This project led to the conception and the creation of an habitat set in Milan’s Parco Nord. Every structure was realized with scrapped organic materials collected from the park. The project carries on from a path started with “Ama Foreste”, a project developed by Alessandro Guerriero and Italo Rota in 2011.

For this project, each student (student A) played the role of the designer for an intervention of redevelopment/ renovation of the house of another student (student B). At the same time, he or she played the role of client for the project of his or her own home, developed by a third student (student C). According to indications of the owner of the house, I designed a structure that divided the space of her living room in three different parts, taking advantage of the room’s height, which is four meters, and obtaining a study area, a relaxation area and a dining area.

La Plaza is a project developed in collaboration with the Italian company PALM, producer of pallets. The aim of the project was to give a second life to a material that is usually used for the transportation of goods. Specifically, this project focused on a specific kind of pallet that is used for carry food used for humanitarian support. Once shipped, these pallets are recycled as structural components to “build hope and support. The result is a square that works as a hospitable and helpful place when environmental disasters occur.

connections
For my thesis project, I started observing what surrounded me. On the basis of my personal experience, I worked on concepts such as “Personal Learning Networks” and non-institutionalized learning. Both concepts are based on an advantageous exchange of information, experiences and daily past existence of any people who, narrating about themselves, give others the opportunity to learn something and gain knowledge from what they have been through. Circumstances, events, experiences: each of us develops and learns just by living. I asked fourteen people to tell me their point of view and their way of experiencing a place, developing, with the information that I gathered, a network that can allow everyone to see differently the places that surround themselves. I meant to describe and disclose “other spaces” than those which are not defined as much by real and tangible boundaries, but rather by mental spatial borders defined by experiences lived in that given space.
