Socio-Climatic Morphologies

How to manage the change | Vernacular architecture | Sustaina

To rob a people of tradition is to rob it of its inborn strength and identity. To rob people of opportunity to grow through invention of through acquisition of values from other races is to rob it of its future. Frederick Douglas and René d’Harnoncourt, 1941

Individual and community awareness, educ consciousness are the prerequisite for a pu the redefinition of goals and values that en use and a more equitable distribution of all Balzani et al., 2014

We need to know the why, as well as the how, of vernacular sustainability. Vellinga, 2014

cation and ublic commitment to nsure a more balanced l kinds of resources.

A town is made of buildings, but a community is made of people; a house is a structure but a home is much more. The distinctions are not trivial, nor are they sentimental or romantic: they are fundamental to the understanding of the difference between the provision of shelter which serves to protect and the creation of domestic environments that express the deep structures of society. Oliver, 2006

RESILIENCE Vernacular architecture as a tool for managing the change

Another characteristic of vernacular is its additive quality, its unspecialized, open-ended nature, so different from the closed, final form typical of most high-style design. It is this quality which enables vernacular buildings to accept changes and additions which would visually and conceptually destroy a high-style design. Amos Rapoport, 1969

Exhibition TecnoNart 2015 - Technology, Nature, Art Tribute to ‘900 In the exhibited work, a series of iconic images, taken from the twentieth century, are re-created on wooden canvas, painted with natural essences and technical tools. It is thus proposed a chronological reproduction of details and works inspired by teachers and schools of the past century, in order to rediscover the noble nature of wood in contemporary production field.

Technical research makes available materials, adhesives, fillers, cuts, signs and forms of high quality and precision that lead to new and exciting interpretations of wood work. Even today the artistic furniture is realized if the craftsman knows and uses creativity, patience and steady hand.
