How much is our attention worth? Ethical design for user’s digital wellbeing Project type: Master thesis, 2020, Prof Matteo Ciastellardi My role: UX research, editorial design
The UX research focuses on attention, analyzing user’s issues related with digital products and services. Attention economy controls the world of the internet and social media and produces value based on time spent online. Neuroscience and psychology demonstrate that attention is a limited resource and that the user has changed his habits to be able to be always-on, often developing psychological and cognitive problems such as distraction, tecnostress and nomophobia. In this scenario is developing a desire to design according to a new ethics which aims to the user’s digital well-being. A technology that respects human vulnerabilities, without distracting our minds, but helps us to achieve personal goals. By understanding the mechanisms of cognitive control and behavioral triggering, also supported by the analysis of case studies, the research goal is to identify useful guidelines for the communication designer. A technoetic design that considers a set of psychological, scientific and environmental factors, to improve productivity and the attentive skills of the user.

Tonno&co Fish restaurant identity Project type: proposal concept for a Design Driven Revolution studio project, 2019 My role: research, branding, UX/UI website
The identity of Tonno&co is focused on a refined offer of tuna dishes, in addition to other fish dishes. In the project proposal I developed the brand identity and the website. The geometric and elegant shapes are enhanced by the use of contrasting colors such as blue and pink, which immediately refer to the sea. Visual design therefore develops in every element of the brand, from the interior to the graphics.

Visually the column space is highlighted by thin vertical lines that come to life from the Tonno&co identity pattern, displayed on the homepage.
The desktop version is structured into a single page, in which sections progressively develop vertically, one after the other. To get to a specific section, you can explore the website by scrolling or clicking on the fixed menu on the right to automatically reach the desired point. Graphically, the layout is structured in three columns. Regarding the mobile version, in most cases the contents are divided into a single column, to the right of which there is the access menu icon and the Tonno&co logo, to easily return to the homepage.

Paku Smart toy Project type: Group Project, Lab Interaction Design, 2018 Prof Fabio Sergio, Maristella Matera My role: User research, UX/UI
The only educational service for schools for children with food discomfort, that helps them acquire correct habits during lunch in the canteen, through an interactive weight scale that monitors the amount of food ingested, offering a gaming experience based on the concept of energy accumulated during the meal. The problem of an unbalanced diet is very common in children and can have a negative impact on their growth. Moreover, not all schools have food education programs. Between 5 and 8 years old, selectivity related to the combination of foods increases as the influence, the imitation among children during lunch at school. Paku is a service that involves children in a weekly program, thanks to the adoption of correct eating styles, relying on catering companies. The child, eating, will load his little avatar Paku with which, based on the energy accumulated during lunch, can play at home on the mobile app.

The Gradient Walker’s New Design Quarterly
Project type: Group project, Redesign of the magazine Design Quarterly, Lab di progettazione di artefatti e sistemi complessi, 2018, Prof. Elena Caratti, Massimo Pitis My role: Content research, visual design, editorial design
The Gradient, Walker’s new Design Quarterly is a new magazine, a redesign of the original Design Quarterly. The new concept, according to the museum’s online publication, is linked to the idea of the gradient itself. In the magazine the concept of the gradient is represented as the connection between design and other topics, that change in every issue. The gradient is expressed in a visual way too: it appears as a graphic index that drives you between the magazine sections giving a strong emphasis on the identity of the magazine: Inside Walker is the physical counterpart of our online blog, in which all the contents are based on a selection made by Walker itself; Outside Walker means to discover design inputs outside the museum’s territory featuring the works of contributors and guest authors all over the world.

A gradient is a spectrum that can be transformed without restrictions, edgeless and ever-shifting. It can be a graphic expression. It can be all of the above, but likely it’s somewhere in between.

Typolejos Urban requalification in Lisbon
Project type: Bachelor thesis, 2017, Prof Federica Dal Falco My role: Art direction, Visual design, Industrial design
The project has been inspired by the typical portuguese azulejos, squared ceramic tiles with a polished, colourful and decorated surface. Typolejos are modern azulejos, decorated with typographical patterns made of the abstraction of a single caracter, trough repetition and reflection. The chosen fonts belong to the contemporary typographic portuguese world: Lisboa, Lisboa Swash, Lisboa Dingbats and Lusitana. Four fonts of two young designers: Ricardo Santos and Ana Megda, that were inspired by Portugal and the city of Lisbon. Moreover there is a series of frame typolejos to put around the primary tiles. The colour palette is made of the couple black and white that link the tiles to the visual of black printed typografical caracters on white paper and to use the colours of Lisbon’s flag.

Motion Posters Posters for Blank Poster
Project type: Personal project, 2019-2020 My role: Poster design, Visual design, Motion graphics
Blank Poster is an open platform where anyone can participate and create posters based on a weekly, randomly generated word. The word works as the only common guideline for the participants, everyone is free to interpret the brief in their own way. The goal is to have a nice break from busy things and to be able to exercise creativity without restrictions. I decided to create kinetic posters, to experiment the power of motion and improve my skills. To see the posters in motion visit Behance in the link below.
