type of work: individual|teamwork Beetween the district of Villanova and San Benedetto is now abandoned Furniture Cao. The need for a piece of cohesion between the introverted character of living and new public functions, the project builds a sociale center, intended as a meeting space, able to strenghten the balance between different realities. This intention is achieved through a riorganization of the retaining some traces of the existing and creating new architectures. The development og the district of San Benedetto and the building from the fifties of the main buildings in the area have contribuited to the formation of an increasingly tied to the public dimension of the town. With these interventions, we have tried to create a single system that’s insertion in the territory and identifying him. A key aspect that unites these structure in the nature of public places, and as such, they create spaces for meeting and relationships. The particular morphology of the site has influenced the architecture and the project started with the dual aim of creating a new cultural and artistic centre that relations with from its surroundings and is able to bring to mind a factory. It was decided to reconstruct the face along Via Bacaredda continuously, giving way to a square tilted at the market, and developing the project on three main dimensions. The buildings that mark and articulate the front are five blocks, the true focus of the artistic and creative centre, placed on a level three feet higher than the road interspersed with a series of open spaces.

The purpose of thi work is to design a development strategy for the city of Cagliari, considering the upcoming implementation of the surface metro line wich is going to change the face of the city. Considering the important relations between the city and the sea this work think at the metro line as a link among the two elements. That’s way all design operations, placed nearby the metro line, aim to create both phisical and visual connections with the sea. Within the design strategy, my task was to create a new waterfront with services for the tourists and citizens and a new landscape project along the line of the sea to riconnect that with the city. In particula my purpose aims to create a new public buildin in the big pier and a new public market removeble along the sea.

03 “LIVING THE WORKING SPACE” Strategy : Sulcis, Sardinia Prof: Reiner Zettl, Andrea Borner Tutors: Anna Gulinska, Alexander Karaivanov Urban Strategies Postgraduate Program| University of Applied Arts | Wien| Austria type of work: teamwork In Sardinia the communities have for centuries specialized around the dominant cereal: the courtyard house, the house-farm fence in urban, achieves a perfect synthesis between the living space and the space of the work. In Sulcis the scattered settlements were born from the union of the two main rural activities, herding and agriculture. The houses were named “furriadroxius”, and were manufactured by farmers for large distance that separated them from their funds, and so serve to shelter in time of agricultural operations, and could oversee sown not to be devastated by cattle wandering. The objective of the strategy is to preserve and propagete heritage culturare of Sardinia starting from reinfocement of agricultural potential. In particular implement a rehabilitation and reconnection of living spread, through the upgrading of “furriadroxiu” and the creation of a new prototype of dwelling that as in the past join the space of living and that of work. The origin of the traditional name, according to various interpretations, would indicate “the place where you return”. The proposal is to get over the rejection in cultural in rispect of agricultural world and traditional way of livinig, with an interactive use of that Furriadroxu in different times of the year can accommodate different functions related to teaching, work, home life, and tourism. From the design point of view has been redesigned the traditional model of the farm-house through a new prototype in which coexist the private space of the house, the public space open to visitors and tourists, and semi-public space of the work. This model can be repeated in the Sulcis in a widespread, following the ways of spread living prevalent characteristic of Sulcis. Each new farm-house might be specialized in certain production and processing, thus creating a network of architectural elements recognizable and usable by farmers, tourists, schools, visitors and anyone who wants to learn about the agricultural traditions of Sulcis and have a chance to make himself grower and producer.

(…) I believe that if we can develop a better understanding of maps as both data resource and alternative viewing and scripting device, then we will have found a significant new tool in the arsenal of creative agency. James Corner, 2010 The presented maps is the result of analytical work aimed to offer a vision of the role occupied by the Sardinia Region in the global dynamics. Projective aspect of the mapping focus on highlighting the strengths and potentials together with diagnosing found misfits. The maps obtained are the graphic elaboration of the results of the process of research and our projective analysis of the global conditions. The purpose of the work is to express of the current global trajectories and our attempt to define the information input for new strategies of development and innovative project for Sardinia. In particular the Local maps aim to express the main issues of the investigated area, linked with landscape and with the presence of military servitude. The Global map rapresents the age of the population in major nations of the world and the number of inhabitans in each one.

The pavilion was located behind the dune to create continuity between the artificial and the natural. We turned them towards their plans between different points of natural interest in the area. The perception of the pavilion as a consequence is different depending on the point of arrival and the plan in which you are located. The rotation of the floors creates an interactive relationship with the context: the artificial dunes of the pavilion interact with the sand dunes, that because of the wind change frequently conformation. These changes generate new conformations of the pavilion’s plans.The presence of the rods allows to integrate the pavilion not only with the sand but also with the vegetation that characterizes the project site, creating at the same time a filtered perception of space. In addition, the pavilion can be used with different activities depending on the season and time of day, always maintaining a main tourist destination.The pavilion was located behind the dune to create continuity between the artificial and the natural.

The idea of urban environment that we propose for a the industrial block in the city of Christchurch is composed by for layers: new public buildings, buildings that we want to keept, tipologies prototype and greenspaces. We kept some preexistenting buildings and we left some presents functions, prinicipaly commercial and industrial. In the other existenting buildings, with an high architectural quality, we changed original use with new public function. Landscape in an important layer that we developped on buildings layer: is composed by different greenspaces, walkway, low topografy, parks and sport facilities. Our focus is in the central part of the masterplan, but we defined a masterplan proposal with transitional projects and guidelines for a future environment. In our focus we shown different parts of the new urban environment with different residential tipology: microliving, apartments, students house and different ways with wich adapt with urban spaces and public buildings. A strong point of this strategy is that the layers are integreted in a unic groundfloor urban plan.

type of work: individual “Pattern is what remains. There is no wordy explanation. Pattern is nature seen in the best light” ( Kengo Kuma). What rimained mainly in my memory about the journey from Christuchurch to Auckland is the nature seen in her superficial appearance, without analysis, beacuse many places are seen just passing. Looking with some attention we can see that patterns surround us continually as we observe the object in our world and we begin to see regularity in them. In order whit the deep sense of pattern, a vision of what is mirrored by intuition, perception and istins, through feelings and not via analytyc or logical speculation, I choose to show a “superficial view” of my New Zealand journey. Through patterns I had eternelized the landascape, natural and artificial, with transiction beetwen photos, diagrams and drawings of stripes, colours, layers, texture and different scales of ripetions that are forms that , where there is no apparent structure, are able to articolate space and to produce diversity and beauty. With the drawings and diagrams of different landascapes I found the different patterns of landscape and space seen around me, they are not just a observation of nature, they are a depiction of essence, where the dense and compact prevails over the extended, and all non essential must be removed.
