1. CALLE E CAMPO_ Masterplan for residential buildings in Venice (RW The project is located in the Giudecca island in Venice, the goal was to create a masterplan for a residential quarter in one of the few blocks still not urbanized in the city. The design tries to reinterpretate and incorporate the typical elements of the city: calli (roads), campi (squares) and the housing typology of corte and blocco.

2. LIDO ROMA_ 3D reconstruction of the 20’s beach club in Rome ( R The beach club in the maritime suburbs of Rome was an eclectic pavilion built between 1924 and 1930. It celebrated the glamorous life of the bourgeoisie which was discovering the pleasures of the beach life. Bombed during the Second World War, it is no longer part of the littoral’s landscape. The goal of the project was to reconstruct the building researching through the city’s archives. Thanks to the documentation it was possible to recreate the lost pavilion. Particular attention was also paid to the constructing techniques: the eclectic decorations actually hide an interesting and modern use of concrete.

3. PORTO FLUVIALE_ Coworking in Rome (Roma Tre University) The office building is situated in one of the most trending blocks in Rome, in the university area. The goal of the design was to create a coworking space as flexible as possible, responding to the necessities of the new job market: from free-lance workers to start ups. The goal was therefore to have a very flexible space that could be rented and arranged according to necessity. The working environment is an open space in which seats, desks, relaxing spots are integrated with the internal walls and the faรงade system. Particular attention was paid to the energetical aspects. The faรงade system is designed to screen the openings from direct sunlight, according to their orientation.

4. VILLAGGIO OLIMPICO_ Building renewal in Rome (Roma Tre Univer Built between 1958-1960, in occasion of the Olympics in Rome the block was signed by well-known architects of the time as Libera and Moretti. Regardless its prestigious location in the city the whole area is currently in a state of abandon. Aim of the project was to work on the energy efficiency of the building, conforming to the European “Energy Performance Building Directive, and at the same time to intervene on the architectural degradation of the site. The Restoration works consists in quick and simple construction operations that would avoid the moving of the tenants.

5. MANUFACTURING PROCESSES_ 3D printing with clay (RWTH) Aim of this workshop was to experiment with 3D vertical printing. The extruder was fixed horizontally and the baseplate on which the object was printed was moving. Using a robot implies having control on every step of the design process, from the 3d model -in this case realised with Grasshopper- to the material, clay, that was manually prepared in the lab. The challenge was transforming vertical printing from a bound to a resource, trying to use gravity actively as a shaping feature. The printed clay loop plays with this, creating different patterns that could be used as a sun-shading panel.
