Minded Yoga

Natural History Society Wildlife Walk in the Peaks

Beginners’ Filmmaking Workshop

Minded Yoga focuses on mindfulness, breathing techniques and relaxation, which are known to reduce stress and relax the body. After a minded yoga session, your mind becomes more focused, allowing you to study more effectively. Winners of Most Improved Society 2015 the Yoga and Pilates Society run weekly classes for students of all abilities and beginners are always welcome. Classes are an hour long and taught by a fully qualified teacher. It is essential you buy a ticket for every class as we have limited class sizes and a lot of demand for places.

Join Natural History Society for its first walk of the year as we venture into the Peak District in search of flora, fauna and a good old time. With its vast mosaic of rolling hills, rocky crags, and extensive moorland, the Peak District is a beautiful place - and it's right on Sheffield's doorstep! Because of this diverse array of habitats, the Peaks is home to all kinds of wildlife, from moorland specialists such as red grouse and short-eared owls to some of Britain's quintessential rural plants and animals. We will be walking about 8 miles through woodland and ascending some gentle hills - the route shouldn't be challenging, but if fatigue does set in we will never be far from civilisation (i.e. the pub).

10 – 11am, £3.50. Meet in No.66. We provide mats but ask you to please bring water and wear comfortable clothes

10am – 4pm, £1. Meet outside the Students’ Union. Please bring money for the bus fare. Bring walking boots, outdoor weather appropriate clothing, packed lunch and (if you have them) ID guides and binoculars.

ONE

One World and Give it A Go are very excited to launch ‘Society Mash-up’. Our Society Mash-Up events are hosted by two societies who have teamed up to share their skills and interests in a new and innovative way. We are now looking for more societies to get involved and create events with an international or cultural twist. The events will be entirely funded by One World and any money made from ticket sales will be split between the societies! If your society would like to get involved then please email One.World@sheffield.ac.uk. You do not need to have a specific idea before contacting us; we will help you to develop one and then help you find a society to team up with.
