ARTS, CRAFTS AND GAMES

Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind provides opportunity, support, friendship and services to blind and partially sighted people in Sheffield. Volunteers will assist clients’ participation in a range of activities and entertainment, including a variety of craft activities, games and word puzzles. WOODHOUSE WASHLANDS

Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust is the biggest voluntary sector nature conservation and environmental regeneration organisation in South Yorkshire, working to protect and enhance the environment. FUN ON THE FARM!

Spring into action at Whirlow Hall Farm for their Lambing Open Day! Help with children’s activities including arts and crafts activities, running food stalls, stewarding in the car park and serving refreshments to customers. Spend an afternoon meeting new people at this friendly conversation club. Chat to refugees and asylum seekers who are looking to improve their English and learn a bit more about British culture. GIVE RUNNERS A BOOST!

Join the Cavendish Cancer Care team marshalling the running event “Sheffield Together 2018” in Ecclesall Woods. Help set up the route and cheer on the runners to help raise money for this fantastic cause, which supports local people and their families who are living with cancer. The Refugee Council offers a helping hand to support and empower refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives. BOCCIA TIME KEEPERS

Want to find out more about a unique Paralympic sport? Get involved and support the deliverance of the Boccia National Championships as a Time Keeper and find out what really makes the athletes tick! Full training will be provided. Saturday 24th March, 8.30am - 5.30pm

WHINFELL QUARRY GARDENS

Step back in time and into Spring, hidden Victorian garden. There will be a variety of gardening tasks for your green fingers, including path clearing, pruning and general tidying, to get the gardens ready for spring and accessible to all visitors. Saturday 24th March, 9am - 12.45pm

Help Sustrans create happier, healthier communities and a better environment for us all. Volunteers will cycle along the National Cycle Network and gain an insight into developing new routes, maintenance and biodiversity and being a Wildlife champion. Having your own bike is preferred but not essential. Saturday 10th March, 10am - 3pm

SUPPORT ON A SUNDAY

The Sunday Centre provides a friendly shelter for the homeless, isolated and vulnerable people, where they can have refreshments and a hot meal in the city centre on a Sunday. There is a role for everyone - preparations in the kitchen, serving, or greeting people as they arrive.

Sheffield Students’ Union’s Give it a Go programme is packed full of activities, events and experiences. Every year thousands of students take part in Give it a Go, and you should too!

BUYING TICKETS

Tickets for all activities are on sale at the Students’ Union Box Office (tel: 0114 222 8777) and are available to buy online www.sheffieldsu. com/events TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE and your Student, SIC or Gold Life Membership uCard must be shown at the Box Office in order to buy your tickets. Demand for Give it a Go is massive and events can sell out very quickly, so please buy your ticket early to avoid disappointment and please note that you cannot turn up and pay on the door! Unfortunately, all tickets purchased are nonrefundable and cannot be exchanged or transferred. If the event organiser cancels the activity, a full refund will be given from the Students’ Union Box Office. Participants will be informed of cancellations via facebook and twitter, and email where possible.

The Give it a Go sports activities are in partnership with Sport Sheffield.

For evening activities in the Students’ Union, the Women’s Minibus will take you home to your door anywhere within a 2-mile radius of the Union. The service runs at half past every hour and tickets cost just £1.50 from the Students’ Union Box Office.
