LET’S WELCOME OUR NEWEST BOARD MEMBERS
As we approach the end of an exciting year, we are pleased to share that two individuals will be joining the Giving The Glam Board of Members. Their addition to the board will be a valuable contribution to our organization.
Raquel Fauza
Raquel Fauza was born and raised in Brazil and after finishing her studies in economics she came to the United States with the intention of spending two years improving her language skills at Harvard University Extension. She met her husband in the building where she lived. He was a doctor from Brazil doing a fellowship at Children’s Hospital. Their first child was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age two.
In 2008 she decided to open a jewelry design company and while creating her first collection, she become pregnant with her third child. She combined being a mother and running her business. There were ups and downs of being an immigrant, but she had a good life which included giving back to others.

As the founder and creative director of Raquel Fauza Jewelry she had opportunities to donate pieces of her jewelry creations to many foundations including Boston Children’s Hospital League, JDRF, Runway to Miracles (to benefit St Jude) and Boston Arts Academy. Raquel was very impressed when she met Maristela Rapo and learned about her foundation Giving The Glam. She is very grateful to have the opportunity to help change the lives of the young people participating in Giving The Glam.
Christiana Brown
Christiana Brown was a 2018 Giving The Glam participant from Tech Boston Academy. After becoming a participant, she returned the favor of volunteering for the last four years. Christiana enjoys giving her time to Giving The Glam while giving back to the community. During her years of volunteering, she graduated from Suffolk University in Boston Massachusetts, and majored in advertising. Christiana is currently working at an advertising company and returning to school to get her masters in 2023. She has the passion for giving back and wants to make a difference in her community, while also being a representative of what hard work looks like when you stick to your goals.

Courtney had many diverse interests including figure skating, following the Patriots and Celtics, makeup artistry, and becoming a dental assistant. She had a certificate in make-up artistry from Elizabeth Grady and earned her dental assistant license and was a valued colleague at Manickas Family Dentistry.
I first learned about Courtney when a friend contacted me with an opportunity for a substantial makeup donation to Giving the Glam. I met Courtney’s mom, Cathy, who told me her daughter’s story. I remember asking why she wanted to donate all the brand-new makeup. When I heard the story, it touched my heart deeply.
The next day I called my makeup artist and asked her to come to my house to open the makeup pallets. All of them were unique in color, shape, design and trade name. Each time I opened a new pallet, I thought about Courtney and her passion for beauty and makeup. I’m thrilled that I can share this passion with our Giving the Glam participants. It is a wonderful way to celebrate her memory”, says Maristela Rapo.
Courtney’s mother reflected that the gift of COVID meant that the family got to spend more time together. “Courtney moved home in November of 2020, and she shared with me how stress free and happy she was living with us and her cat Charlie. It was a pleasure to have her at home. She had a tremendous sense of humor which kept us all laughing. She was self-reflective and embraced the challenges that life threw her way, and she wasn’t afraid to talk about the addiction that took her life.”
WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU, COURTNEY.
