Summer Condition
During the Summer months, the aerofoil shaped roof will not only provide a larger surface area for the solar panels to absorb sunlight, but will also provide a none frictional surface for the North easterly wind to blow over. This is turn will increase wind speed and turn the turbines faster. If required, the windows within the retail can be opened to allow in a cool, gently breeze.
Winter Condition
The Winter months will provide less photovoltaic energy as the sun intensity and angle is lower. However, beause a large majority of the building is covered in green spaces on the external facades, it will help retain heat better and improve air quality to the surrounding areas. Warm liquid could be pumped through the hollowed concrete slabs to help keep the concrete at a consistant temperature.
I have incorporated the Butong Green wall as my Protective function. This wall works all year round. Providing ample insulation during the colder months and also enabling the wall to screen that facade against some of the suns rays. Aswell as acting as a heat technology, the green wall also absorbs noise coming from passing traffic, further reducing the impact on the acoustics within the theatre.
