Issue 5. 2019. August
OPTIMISING GRASSLAND on farm is one of the most economical means to produce milk and beef. In order to achieve quality grass, it’s important to put a full reseeding programme in place that considers all the elements of reseeding. We’ve put together an easy guide on the quality products that we recommend for each of these 3 stages, in order to achieve “Great Grass”.
STAGE 1
STAGE 1
STAGE 2 Reseeding
Post Emergence
Using a quality chemical to burn off means total destruction of old swards, allowing maximum seed emergence in stage 2.
Selecting quality seed is crucial to maximise your grass to milk production and to capitalise on your reseeding investment in the long term.
It is recognised by Teagasc that using a quality post emergence spray to control a broad spectrum of weeds will result in enhanced grassland yields.
Pre-Seeding
STAGE 3
Roundup Flex and Powermax consistently out-perform glyphosate products because of their superior uptake and translocation in all weeds, including scutch grass.
Pre-Seeding
Roundup Powermax 720 10kg
Roundup Flex 480 15L

CONTROL SEEDLING WEEDS IN NEW LEY
Applying a herbicide to a new grass ley is the most cost-effective spray you will use to maximise your investment. Teagasc research shows that reseed sprays provide very good control of docks for 4 years post application vs mature sprays which provide control for just 1 year.
Esteem® 5L
Controls broad spectrum of weeds such as buttercups, docks, thistles, chickweed, fat-hen and mayweed.
