Glasgow Doors Open Day 2012 welcomed 23,779 unique visitors through the doors of Glasgow’s most hidden, interesting and exciting buildings. Proving itself as one of the biggest Doors Open Days in Scotland, Glaswegians have shown how passionate and curious they really are by making a total of 80,849 individual visits to buildings and events between 10th & 16th September! This festival was the first of its kind in the UK 23 years ago and remains loved and treasured by communities and tourists alike, as it places itself as an essential in the annual events calendar. With a 33% increase on last year’s unique visitor figures and over a third new to the festival, awareness is certainly growing. Additionally, 99% of visitors rate their visit as excellent or good, therefore Glasgow Building Preservation Trust would like to step back and thank its participants, funders and supporters for this unbelievable achievement and dedication to the Built Heritage Festival. Glasgow Doors Open Day will continue to progress further, finding more treasures, more volunteers and ultimately satisfying the curiosity of the public on 21st – 22nd September 2013!
