Scientists are the explorers of today, constantly asking questions and uncovering the mysteries of the world around us, and beyond. How does the human brain work? Is there life on other planets? What’s that furry thing growing in my coffee mug? Every day, scientists work together to find the answers. This year, our ‘Glasgow Explores’ programme celebrates this spirit of enquiry. From 08-18 June, nurture your natural curiosity and dip into the vast array of science and engineering happening on your doorstep. Find the answers – or raise new questions - with a trip to the theatre (‘Chasing the Waves’), cinema (‘The Abyss’, ‘Innerspace’ and more) or pub (Glasgow Skeptics, Big Science Pub Quiz). Learn how researchers are tackling diverse societal issues, including sustainable fashion, ‘personalised’ medicine and the future of humans on Earth. Finish by stretching your PROGRAMME brain and muscles with a science of yoga session. CONTENTS For younger explorers, our festival weekends are packed to the brim with family-friendly diversions. Don’t miss regular Festival Highlights 2 fixtures ‘Science Sunday’ and our ‘Glasgow Explores’ weekend in the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, with cool demos Introduction 3 and hands-on experiments to keep the whole family busy.
